Combining the Pitcher and Lotus Plant: Supericephobic and Superhydrophobic Silicone Films

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Based on bench‐top nanomolding of polydimethylsiloxane (PDMS) with optimized silicone oil content, we developed hierarchically structured silicone films by essentially combining the properties of the lotus and pitcher plant; particularly we are able to achieve water contact angle as high as 171° and ice adhesion strength as low as 11.5 kPa (i.e ...

Meteorological Drought Analysis Based on Satellite Rainfall Data in the Slahung Sub Watershed

open access: yesJurnal Teknik Pengairan
As a country in the tropics, Indonesia experiences drought almost yearly. However, prevention is still very slow, particularly in East Java Province, making it a prolonged problem. Meteorological drought is closely related to climate anomalies or weather

A SHORT-TERM RAINFALL PREDICTION TAKING INTO CONCIDERATION NONLINEAR EFFECT OF NON-OROGRAPHIC RAINFALL ON ORGRAPHIC RAINFALL

open access: yesPROCEEDINGS OF HYDRAULIC ENGINEERING, 2008
A nonlinear effect ofnon-orographic rainfall on orographic rainfall is introduced into a short-term rainfall predictionmethod which uses Tatehira's orographic rainfall model. In the previous paper, orographic rainfall is assumed tobe simply proportional to non-orographic rainfall.

Smart Energy–Harvesting Coating for Moisture–Droplets Based on Ionic Diodes and Transistor–Like Structures

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
A smart power‐generating coating is developed to harvest energy from both ambient humidity and impacting liquid droplets. The integrated system delivers sustained open‐circuit voltages of 0.85 V from moisture and up to 36 V from droplets. Its scalable coating architecture enables a continuous power supply for low‐power electronic devices.

Effect of lunar cycle on rainfall

open access: yesMAUSAM, 1995
ABSTRACT. Rainfall data for a period of 50 years from 1931 onwards have been analysed for three west, coast stations in Kerala for the southwest monsoon period, The period is divided into two halves, the first half, i.e.June-July, providing comparatively more rainfall  and the second half, i.e. August-September, providing comparatively lesser rainfall.

Transparent Photothermal Slippery Surface Based on Monolayer Self‐Assembled MXene Film for Anti‐Fogging and De‐Icing

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
The ultrathin (2.5 nm) MXene film self‐assembled at liquid interfaces breaks the trade‐off between transparency (82.5 %) and photothermal conversion effect (DT∼25.1°C ± 2.9 °C) under 100 mW cm−2. After encapsulated by a slippery surface with low adhesion, this transparent film can be applied in smart windows, eyewear, and optical sensors to autonomous ...

Model Construction of InSAR-based Rainfall Thresholds for Landslide Hazards in Yanhe Basin, Chinese Loess Plateau

open access: yesShuitu Baochi Xuebao
[Objective] Empirical rainfall thresholds have geographical limitations, it is of great significance to carry out a rainfall threshold modeling study for landslide hazard on the Chinese Loess Plateau.

Shrub tundra ecohydrology: rainfall interception is a major component of the water balance

open access: yesEnvironmental Research Letters, 2019
As shrubs expand across the Arctic, they alter all cycles in the Earth system, including the water cycle. However, the coupling of shrubs with the water cycle during summer remains poorly understood.

Meter‐Scale Ultra‐Large‐Area Flexible Electroluminescent Devices Enabled by Aerosol Spraying

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
This work presents a simple aerosol spraying method using modified luminescent ink to fabricate meter‐scale flexible alternating current electroluminescent (ACEL) devices. Enhanced particle dispersibility and film uniformity yield impressive brightness up to 500 cd m−2, positioning these devices as effective luminous navigation signs for industrial ...
