Effects of indomethacin on renal inner medullary plasma flow
Prostaglandins, 1974Abstract The effects of the prostaglandin system on renal hemodynamics were studied by treating rats with a single intraperitoneal dose of indomethacin, an inhibitor of prostaglandin synthesis. Medullary plasma flow was significantly reduced 30–45 minutes after indomethacin, but was elevated 3–6 hours after indomethacin.

Effects of percutaneous transluminal angioplasty on renal plasma flow
Seminars in Nuclear Medicine, 1983Percutaneous transluminal angioplasty is being used with increasing frequency for the treatment of renal artery stenosis. Several noninvasive techniques that utilize radioactive tracers have been used for monitoring the effects of angioplasty and progression of disease.

Effect ofα-methyldopa on renal plasma flow in patients with renal hypertension
International Urology and Nephrology, 1971A study of the effect of the hypotensive drug Dopegyt on the effective renal plasma flow, the peripheral renal resistance and the isotope nephrography with131I-hippuran was carried out in 12 patients with renal hypertension and compensated renal function. The authors established that the hypotensive action of Dopegyt was not associated with significant

Effects of GFR and renal plasma flow on urine osmolarity
American Journal of Physiology-Legacy Content, 1961The effects on total urine osmolarity of renal plasma flow rate (RPF) and glomerular filtration rate (GFR) were determined in dogs during mannitol diuresis. While one kidney served as a control, RPF and GFR in the other kidney were varied by one of the following methods; A—Partial occlusion of the ureter. This decreased GFR with negligible decrease in

The effects of streptozocin-induced diabetes on renal plasma flow
Experimental and Clinical Endocrinology & Diabetes, 2009To evaluate the significance of collagen levels, nonenzymatic glycation, and effective renal plasma flow in diabetes, we studied 52 Streptozocin induced-diabetic rats. After 10 weeks of diabetes, rats were injected i.v. 0.5 microCi/g 99mTechnetium Mercaptoacetyl triglycine and effective renal plasma flow was calculated from the renograms obtained.

Measurement of effective renal plasma flow in congestive heart failure
European Journal of Nuclear Medicine, 1981In the management of patients with congestive heart failure (CHF), it is often desirable to have precise knowledge of overall renal function, including the effective renal plasma flow (ERPF). It has long been recognized that ERPF is diminished in CHF.

New formulas for the calculation of effective renal plasma flow
European Journal of Nuclear Medicine, 1982Estimation of effective renal plasma flow (ERPF) can be made easily, inexpensively, and accurately by means of a single plasma concentration determination, sampled 44 min after injection of 131I-orthoiodohippurate (OIH). We originally established predictive regression equations based on a series of patients with a wide variety of diseases and a few ...

Effective Renal Plasma Flow: Clinical Significance after Spinal Cord Injury
Journal of Urology, 1985We conducted a study to determine if effective renal plasma flow routinely measured by hippurate clearance during a comprehensive renal scintillation procedure is a relevant measure for assessing renal function in spinal cord injury patients. All subjects had spinal cord injury and had had contemporaneous comprehensive renal scintillation procedures ...

Estimating the effective renal plasma flow from the hippurate renogram
Nuclear Medicine Communications, 1985A method for estimating the effective renal plasma flow (ERPF) from renograms is presented. Renograms obtained in 91 patients were used to test the method. The clearance values derived from renography were compared with those obtained with infusion clearance. It was shown that the ERPF was able to be estimated from the renogram with a standard error of

Simplified estimation of glomerular filtration rate and effective renal plasma flow
European Journal of Nuclear Medicine, 1981A method is described for the determination of GFR and ERPF using a combined injection of 51Cr-EDTA and 125I-iodohippurate. Plasma samples obtained at 60 min and 150 min after administration were used to determine a flow rate F assuming a monoexponential clearance of the tracers.
