We consider a population of agents, either finite or countably infinite, located on an arbitrary network. Agents interact directly only with their immediate neighbors, but are able to observe the behavior of (some) other agents beyond their interaction neighborhood, and learn from that behavior by imitating successful actions.

On the efficient synthesis of efficient programs
Computer Compacts, 1983Abstract Efficiency is a problem in automatic programming—both in the programs produced and in the synthesis process itself. The efficiency problem arises because many target-language programs (which vary in their time and space performance) typically satisfy one abstract specification. This paper presents a framework for using analysis and searching

We define a quasidictionary to be a data structure that supports the following operations: check-in(v) inserts a data item v and returns a positive integer tag to be used in future references to v; check-out(x) deletes the data item with tag x; access(x) inspects and/or modifies the data item with tag x.

Knowing efficiency: the enactment of efficiency in efficiency auditing
Accounting, Organizations and Society, 1999Abstract This paper reports an ethnographic study of the activities of auditors in the field as they work to fulfil an efficiency auditing mandate; it analyses how auditors report on efficiency in practice. Efficiently learning efficient programs
2017Discovering efficient algorithms is central to computer science. In this thesis, we aim to discover efficient programs (algorithms) using machine learning. Specifically, we claim we can efficiently learn programs (Claim 1), and learn efficient programs (Claim 2).

On the Efficiency of Algorithms
Journal of the ACM, 1970A definition is given of the efficiency of an algorithm considered as a whole. This immediately raises the question of whether it is possible to find the most efficient or “optimum” algorithm. It is shown that an optimization problem of this kind is effectively solvable if and only if the set of arguments with which one is concerned is a finite one ...

Memory is the heart of today's electronic computers—memory serving as a fast-access storage unit and also being used in the execution of computer commands. The problem of memory efficiency, therefore, is one of great importance. Complete efficiency has not yet been attained and research to achieve it has been up to now rather limited.

Efficient Efficiencies Analysis
The Antitrust Bulletin, 2015Efficiencies analysis is both an important area and one where research efforts can be particularly productive. Thinking of efficiencies and competitive effects together as components of a unified analysis is a productive conceptual framework and one that may yield methodological advances.
