Influence of premixed swirl-stabilized flame on the cooling performance of an effusion-cooled combustor liner

open access: yesCase Studies in Thermal Engineering
The impact of premixed swirl-stabilized flame on the cooling performance of an effusion-cooled combustor liner perforated by cylindrical and fan-shaped holes is investigated under varying blowing ratios.

Numerical Investigation of Effusion Cooling in Gas Turbine Combustor Liner

open access: yesJournal of Aviation, 2021
In this study, a numerical analysis was performed to find the aerothermal characteristics of the effusion cooled gas turbine combustor liner. The analyzed geometric model is a scale model of an actual combustor liner. The study aims to investigate the effect of different blowing ratios by validating an experimental test setup.

Postmortem submergence interval (PMSI) and human decomposition in anthropogenically constructed aqueous environments (pools, bathtubs, hot tubs, and spas)

open access: yesJournal of Forensic Sciences, EarlyView.
Abstract Postmortem decomposition changes of bodies in aquatic environments may offer valuable insights into the postmortem submergence interval (PMSI) for medicolegal death investigators. However, the effects of immersion on the onset of such changes are poorly understood.

Advancing fetal autopsy in cases of maceration: Underwater dissection technique and its forensic relevance

open access: yesJournal of Forensic Sciences, EarlyView.
Abstract Fetal autopsy remains essential for determining the cause of intrauterine death and for supporting clinical, genetic, and forensic evaluations. However, in cases of advanced maceration, autolysis severely compromises tissue integrity, often preventing adequate identification of anatomical structures and limiting the diagnostic and medico‐legal

Out in the cold? A review of Early Middle Palaeolithic settlements in northern Central Europe, age data and geological preconditions for site formation and preservation

open access: yesBoreas, EarlyView.
The characteristics of settlement of Neanderthals in northern Central Europe during the earlier phases of the Middle Palaeolithic (Marine Isotope Stage 8–6) have been a matter of debate for decades, specifically regarding the population dynamics at such latitudes during the coldest phases. In this paper, we review the known archaeological record of the

Conjugate Heat Transfer and Flow Analysis of Double-Wall Cooling with Printable Gyroid-Type TPMS-Based Effusion

open access: yesAerospace
This study introduces the Gyroid structure, a type of triply periodic minimal surface (TPMS), for enhanced effusion cooling performance. Conjugate heat transfer simulations are used to compare the flow behavior, pressure loss, and overall cooling ...

Adapting Gel-Wax into an Ultrasound Guided Pericardiocentesis Model at Low Cost

open access: yesWestern Journal of Emergency Medicine, 2017
Cardiac tamponade is a life-threatening emergency for which pericardiocentesis may be required. Real-time bedside ultrasound has obviated the need for routine blind procedures in cardiac arrest, and the number of pericardiocenteses being performed has ...

Bose-Einstein condensation of chromium

open access: yes, 2005
We report on the generation of a Bose-Einstein condensate in a gas of chromium atoms, which will make studies of the effects of anisotropic long-range interactions in degenerate quantum gases possible.

Long, paired A'A/Pahoehoe flows of Mauna Loa: Volcanological significance and insights they provide into volcano plumbing systems [PDF]

open access: yes
The long lava flows of Mauna Loa, Hawaii have been cited as Earth's closed analogs to the large Martian flows. It is therefore important to understand the flow mechanics and characteristics of the Mauna Loa flows and to make use of these in an attempt to
