Wavy‐Interlocked Stretchable Triboelectric Nanogenerators Enhanced by Liquid Metal Microflowers for Self‐Powered Wearable Motion Monitoring

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Schematic showing a stretchable triboelectric nanogenerator based on interlocked wavy architectures that uses EGaIn microflower‐embedded PVDF‐TrFE and Nylon‐6 nanofiber membranes. The multi‐petaled, electron‐rich EGaIn microflowers enhance interfacial polarization and capacitance, while the interlocked wavy architecture enlarges the effective contact ...

Charge Transport and Rectification in Arrays of SAM-Based Tunneling Junctions [PDF]

open access: yes, 2012
This paper describes a method of fabrication that generates small arrays of tunneling junctions based on self-assembled monolayers (SAMs); these junctions have liquid-metal top-electrodes stabilized in microchannels and ultraflat (template-stripped ...

EGaIn–Metal Interfacing for Liquid Metal Circuitry and Microelectronics Integration

open access: yesAdvanced Materials Interfaces, 2018
AbstractEutectic gallium–indium (EGaIn) has attracted significant attention in recent years for its use in soft and stretchable electronics. However, advances in scalable fabrication approaches and effective electromechanical interfaces between liquid metal (LM) traces and microelectronics are still needed to create functional soft and stretchable ...

Soft and Adhesive Cardiac Patch for Electrophysiological and Contraction Measurement

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
This study developed an epicardial electronic patch with a modulus similar to that of the heart (approximately 65kPa), which can collect stable electrocardiogram signals and myocardial contractility on the surface of a dynamically beating heart. This is attributed to the hydrogen bond interaction formed between the amino and catechol groups in the ...

Improved Direct Ink Writing of Liquid Metal Foams via Liquid Additives

open access: yesAdvanced Electronic Materials, EarlyView.
The ability to pattern liquid metal is useful for making soft electrical and thermal devices. Dispensing liquid metal from a nozzle naturally results in the formation of spheroidal droplets, making direct‐write printing challenging. Liquid metal foams containing pockets of air can extrude as filaments, albeit inconsistently.
