Naked cuticle is essential for Drosophila wing development beyond Wingless signaling

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Naked cuticle (Nkd), a Wnt signaling inhibitor, assumes extensive roles in Drosophila wing development. Overexpressing Nkd causes smaller, crumpled wings, while also perturbing multiple signaling pathways and developmental genes. A specific region (R1S) is critical for Nkd's function as a signaling integrator, offering new insights for studying its ...

MiR-33a Controls hMSCS Osteoblast Commitment Modulating the Yap/Taz Expression Through EGFR Signaling Regulation [PDF]

open access: yes, 2019
Mesenchymal stromal cells (hMSCs) display a pleiotropic function in bone regeneration. The signaling involved in osteoblast commitment is still not completely understood, and that determines the failure of current therapies being used.

Engineering tandem VHHs to target different epitopes to enhance antibody‐dependent cell‐mediated cytotoxicity

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Tandem VHH targeting distinct EGFR epitopes were engineered into a monovalent bispecific antibody (7D12‐EGA1‐Fc) with more potent ADCC without increasing affinity to EGFR. Structural modeling of 7D12‐EGA1‐Fc showed cross‐linking of separate EGFR domains to enhance CD16a engagement on NK cells.

Non-small Cell Lung Cancer with Metachronous Mutations of EGFR and ALK Genes:
A Case Report and Literature Review

open access: yesChinese Journal of Lung Cancer
Multiple primary lung cancer (MPLC) refers to patients with two or more primary lesions of lung cancer. It can be divided into synchronous MPLC (sMPLC) and metachronous MPLC (mMPLC) based on the timing of occurrence.

Trends and Disparities in Lung Cancer and Respiratory Failure Mortality in the United States: A 24‐Year Retrospective Study

open access: yesAging and Cancer, EarlyView.
Mortality from lung cancer and respiratory failure in US adults declined until 2010 but increased thereafter, with notable disparities by sex, race, region, and urbanicity. This 24‐year analysis highlights rising post‐2010 mortality in women, non‐Hispanic Whites, and urban areas, underscoring the need for targeted public health interventions.

Prediction of regulatory targets of alternative isoforms of the epidermal growth factor receptor in a glioblastoma cell line. [PDF]

open access: yes, 2019
BackgroundThe epidermal growth factor receptor (EGFR) is a major regulator of proliferation in tumor cells. Elevated expression levels of EGFR are associated with prognosis and clinical outcomes of patients in a variety of tumor types. There are at least
