Schistosoma japonicum eggs survive passage through dogs and chickens

Veterinary Parasitology, 2006
The present study sought to elucidate whether Schistosoma japonicum eggs could survive a passage through dogs and chickens. Three dogs and three chickens were used for the experiment. The dogs were allowed to eat goat faeces containing 80 S. japonicum eggs per gram. The chickens were given 2 ml of water containing more than 100 S. japonicum eggs per ml.

Vaccination with Egg Passage Measles Virus by Inhalation

Archives of Pediatrics & Adolescent Medicine, 1962

As difficulties were, however, encountered in measuring the virus The long-term amniotic-passaged Toyoshima strain was employed in vaccination ...

Calcification of schistosoma haematobium eggs: Relation of radiologically demonstrable calcification to eggs in tissues and passage of eggs in urine

Transactions of the Royal Society of Tropical Medicine and Hygiene, 1975
The extent of calcification of the bladder in schistosome infected patients is roughly correlated with the number of calcified schistosome eggs present in the bladder. The focal concentration of eggs in the bladder appears to be one major variable, and we estimate that as few as 100,000 eggs per cm2 might be detected in a clinical radiograph.

Passage of Hæmoglobin from Blood into Eggs of Daphnia

Nature, 1948
IT is known that the amount of haemoglobin dissolved in the blood of Daphnia varies inversely with the oxygen content of the water in which the animals live. The changes in concentration of the haemoglobin have been studied by a quantitative method which allows measurements to be made on a single Daphnia : the colour of the animal‘s blood is compared ...
