Ego-Centric Analysis of Supportive Networks

Proceedings of the 10th ACM Conference on Web Science, 2018
The way we think about ourselves has a direct influence on our emotional state and our mood. Consequently by changing the way we think we can positively influence our mood and how we respond to situations. Many studies have shown a robust relationship in which emotional support from others positively affects how we think about ourselves.

Centered graphs and the structure of ego networks

Mathematical Social Sciences, 1982
Abstract A way of comparing ego networks through examining patterns among their ties is introduced. It is derived from graph-theoretic ideas about centered graphs. An illustration using data from a computer conference is provided.

Distributed Coverage of Ego Networks in F2F Online Social Networks

2016 Intl IEEE Conferences on Ubiquitous Intelligence & Computing, Advanced and Trusted Computing, Scalable Computing and Communications, Cloud and Big Data Computing, Internet of People, and Smart World Congress (UIC/ATC/ScalCom/CBDCom/IoP/SmartWorld), 2016
Although most online social networks rely on acentralized infrastructure, several proposals of Distributed OnlineSocial Networks (DOSNs) have been recently presented. Sincein DOSNs user profiles are stored on the peers of the usersbelonging to the network, one of the main challenges comes fromguaranteeing the profile availability when the owner of the ...

Pattern Mining on Ego-Centric Networks of Friendship Networks

2011
The paper proposes a procedure to analyse local patterns of connectivity among people in social networks using the idea of egocentric network. The ego-centric networks of every nodes are transformed into normalized representation and classified into patterns. The procedure can be applied to large dataset by giving it in SQL code.

Dynamic ego-network visualization

2016
Ego-networks, networks that emphasize relationships between a specific node (called the ego) and its neighbor nodes (called the alters), have been extensively studied in the area of network analysis. Generally, ego-networks are dynamic in nature and their topological structures and properties change over time.

Ego- and Personal-Network Effects

2010
AbstractThis chapter shows how researchers can collect network data from randomly drawn samples. The data only represent the respondent personal network, usually from the respondent's perspective. The chapter then details the various measures derived from personal network data and the research questions and hypotheses that have been tested.

Ego Networks and Firm Innovativeness

2014
In this chapter we seek to analyze how firm innovativeness is related to individual cooperation events and the structure and dynamics of firms’ ego networks. On the one hand, we analyze to what extent individual cooperation events have a direct effect on firm innovativeness. On the other hand, each cooperation event changes the structural configuration
