Seasonal Role Reversal of Baer's Pochard in Waterbird Association Networks

open access: yesEcology and Evolution, Volume 16, Issue 8, August 2026.
Seasonal Network Position Shift: Baer's Pochard exhibits a marked seasonal transition in its network position within the waterbird community—functioning as a core species with high connectivity during the breeding season, but shifting to a peripheral position with reduced network centrality during winter.

Genetic diversity of toll-like receptor genes in the vulnerable Chinese egret (Egretta eulophotes).

open access: yesPLoS ONE, 2020
Toll-like receptor (TLR) genes have recently been employed to assess genetic diversity, as they can be used to infer both demographic history and adaptation to environments with different pathogen pressure. Here, we sampled 120 individuals of the Chinese

DNA barcoding for identification of species involved in wildlife strikes at Brazilian airports

open access: yesThe Journal of Wildlife Management, Volume 90, Issue 6, August 2026.
A collaborative network of 42 Brazilian airports applied DNA barcoding to identify 80 species involved in wildlife strikes. Among them, 32 species (17 birds and 15 bats) were not currently available in Brazil's wildlife strike reporting database, underscoring the value of molecular tools for strengthening wildlife strike monitoring. Urban Parks Act as Refuges for Avian Biodiversity in Chaoyang District, Beijing (China)

open access: yesEcology and Evolution, Volume 16, Issue 7, July 2026.
We assessed bird species richness, seasonal dynamics, and habitat associations across four urban parks in Beijing's Chaoyang District (China) using standardised point count surveys. A total of 68 bird species were recorded, with the highest diversity occurring in parks with extensive wetlands and marked seasonal variation during migration periods.
