Perfusion Bioreactor Culture Incorporating Mechanical Confinement Enhances Mesenchymal Stem Cell Extracellular Vesicle Production and Wound Healing Potential

open access: yesAdvanced Materials Technologies, EarlyView.
Scalable manufacturing challenges and limited potency remain two of the most intransigent issues limiting clinical translation of EV therapeutics. Mechanical cues can induce phenotypic changes and increased vesiculation in EV source cells without the use of extraneous reagents, chemicals, and/or cargo, thereby potentially drastically improving the ...

Predictions of short-term rates and the expectations hypothesis of the term structure of interest rates [PDF]

open access: yes
Despite its important role in monetary policy and finance, the expectations hypothesis (EH) of the term structure of interest rates has received virtually no empirical support.

Thickness Dependence of Linear and Nonlinear Optical Properties of Multilayer 3R‐MoS2

open access: yesAdvanced Optical Materials, EarlyView.
Thickness as a key design parameter for optimizing the nonlinear optical response of layered transition metal dichalcogenides (TMDs) materials is established. The demonstrated correlation between thickness, linear spectra, and harmonic generation efficiency provides a powerful framework for tailoring nonlinear performance.

Familial aggregation of first degree relatives of children with essential hypertension

open access: yesBlood Pressure, 2018
Purpose: Determining familial aggregation is an important first step in narrowing the search for disease-causing genes and hence we determined the familial aggregation of EH among first degree relatives of children with EH.

Origami‐Inspired Structural Design for Aquatic‐Terrestrial Amphibious Robots

open access: yesAdvanced Robotics Research, EarlyView.
This work presents a lightweight amphibious origami robot actuated by a single shape memory alloy wire. A rigid foldable origami structure with displacement amplification enables efficient terrestrial crawling and aquatic swimming. The addition of fan‐shaped units allows controllable turning in both environments.

PEP-TP56 enhances AAV transduction in a serotype-independent manner

open access: yesHeliyon
Adeno-associated viruses (AAVs) have emerged as the most prominent gene therapy vectors. However, the need for high AAV doses to achieve clinical efficacy remains a key challenge to AAV utility in the clinic.

Data‐Driven Printability Modeling of Hydrogels for Precise Direct Ink Writing Based on Rheological Properties

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
A predictive model for 3D printability is developed by integrating rheological analysis, including the Large Amplitude Oscillatory Shear (LAOS) test, with machine learning. With prediction errors under 10%, the model shows that post‐extrusion recovery controls horizontal printability, while high‐strain‐rate nozzle flow dictates vertical printability ...

The extrapleural fat sign on postmortem computed tomography may differentiate acute from chronic extrapleural hematomas

open access: yesForensic Science International: Reports, 2019
Extrapleural fat sign is currently regarded as a CT finding that is useful in detecting Extrapleural hematoma (EH). The EH is caused by bleeding between parietal pleura and fascia endothoracica.

On the Breakdown of the Ehrenfest Method for Molecular Dynamics on Surfaces

open access: yes, 2018
Due to a continuum of electronic states present in periodic systems, the description of molecular dynamics on surfaces poses a serious computational challenge. One of the most used families of approaches in these settings are friction theories, which are

Protein Language Model‐Guided Engineering of a 2,3‐Butanediol Dehydrogenase for the Enantioselective Synthesis of Cyclic α‐Hydroxy Ketones

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
A (2R,3R)‐butanediol dehydrogenase from Bacillus subtilis (BsBDH) is engineered for the enantioselective synthesis of 2‐hydroxycyclohexanone. A PASS computational design strategy is proposed to enhance the thermostability of BsBDH. Moreover, ESM‐1v combined with ISM is utilized for enhancing and inverting its stereoselectivity.
