On the analysis of eigenvalue assignment robustness

IEEE Transactions on Automatic Control, 1992
Summary: This note addresses the robust eigenvalue assignment of systems subjected to parameter perturbations. Based on some essential properties of induced norms and matrix measures, we derive some new sufficient conditions which ensure the assignment of the system's eigenvalues in the specified region irrespective of the system perturbations.

Eigenvalue analysis of synchronous machines

IEEE Transactions on Power Apparatus and Systems, 1975
This paper presents a numerical approach useful for determining the modes of transient response of a synchronous generator. The approach is based upon the Floquet theory of periodic time-variable systems. A computer algorithm for system transition matrix eigenvalue analysis is described and applied to a three-phase synchronous machine.

Methods for the Eigenvalue Analysis

1997
In addition to the matrix-iteration method discussed in Chapter 3, there are several other computer methods that are widely used for solving the eigenvalue problem of vibration systems. Among these methods are the Jacobi method and the QR method. In these methods, which are based on the similarity transformation, a series of transformations that ...

Random Eigenvalue Analysis of an Airframe

45th AIAA/ASME/ASCE/AHS/ASC Structures, Structural Dynamics & Materials Conference, 2004
Random eigenvalue analysis of a Goland wing is carried out considering the only source of uncertainty to be associated with the non-structural masses attached to the wing. Distinction between three dierent characterizations of the eigenvalue statistics and their applicability is also discussed.

Nonsmooth analysis of eigenvalues: A summary

Rendiconti del Seminario Matematico e Fisico di Milano, 1996
Subdifferentials (limiting Fréchet, Clarke) of the composition \(f\circ \lambda \) of extended real valued permutation invariant functions \(f\) and the eigenvalue vector function \(\lambda \) of a symmetric matrix \(X\) are calculated using the transformation to principles axes. If \(U\) is an orthogonal matrix, such that \(\text{Diag} ( \lambda ( X))

Eigenvalue analysis of vibration and stability

1992
Abstract Many physical systems possess eigenvalues, that is, values of some important parameter at which the system falls into characteristic states of behaviour. Each of these states is described by an eigenvector which is associated with one of the eigenvalues.

Eigenvalue Analysis of System Dynamics Models

2006
Previous work related to eigenvalue analysis in the system dynamics field has primarily focused on linking the model structure to the modes of behavior -- i.e. the eigenvalues. While the system eigenvalues define the characteristics of the system’s behavior modes (e.g., exponential growth, expanding oscillations), these behavior modes are not equally ...
