An orthogonality-preserving approach for eigenvalue problems

open access: yesCoRR
Solving large-scale eigenvalue problems poses a significant challenge due to the computational complexity and limitations on the parallel scalability of the orthogonalization operation, when many eigenpairs are required. In this paper, we propose an intrinsic orthogonality-preserving model, formulated as an evolution equation, and a corresponding ...

Boundary‐Dependent Sleep–Wake Dysregulation in Idiopathic Hypersomnia

open access: yesAnnals of Clinical and Translational Neurology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Objective Idiopathic hypersomnia (IH) presents with excessive daytime sleepiness (EDS) despite apparently preserved nocturnal sleep, challenging traditional models of hypersomnolence based on sleep loss or fragmentation. We aimed to test the hypothesis that EDS in IH reflects excessive stabilization of the sleep state, consistent with ...

dynoGP: Deep Gaussian Processes for Dynamic System Identification

open access: yesInternational Journal of Adaptive Control and Signal Processing, EarlyView.
This work introduces a novel class of deep models for system identification, dynamical deep Gaussian processes, which combine the strengths of data‐driven methods, such as those based on neural network architectures, with the ability to output a probability distribution for uncertainty representation.

Simulation‐Based Analysis of Insert Pull‐Out in Nickel‐Polyurethane Hybrid Foams Using CT‐Derived Geometries

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
CT‐based finite element simulations combined with in situ X‐ray computed tomography are used to analyze insert pull‐out in nickel‐coated polymer foams. Despite variations in material parameters, deformation consistently concentrates within a narrow annular region around the insert.

Tetracyclic π‐Extended Multi‐Resonant TADF Emitters for Green PSF‐OLEDs With 37.7% EQE and BT.2020‐Compatible Top‐Emitting Devices

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Ultra‐narrow green multi‐resonance thermally activated delayed fluorescence emitters have been developed by linear π‐extension strategy using tetracyclic naphtho[2,3‐b]benzofuran unit. The resulting phosphorescence‐sensitized OLEDs achieve a maximum external quantum efficiency of 37.7% in the bottom‐emitting architecture, while the complementary top ...

Fractional eigenvalue problems that approximate Steklov eigenvalue problems [PDF]

open access: yes, 2017
In this paper we analyse possible extensions of the classical Steklov eigenvalue problem to the fractional setting. In particular, we find a non-local eigenvalue problem of fractional type that approximates, when taking a suitable limit, the classical ...

Modal Analysis of Light Propagation, Polarization and Diffraction by Cholesteric Liquid Crystal Layers

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
The analysis of optical eigenmodes in chiral liquid crystal with perpendicular or tilted helical axis, and their correspondence with the external medium, leads to an intuitive understanding of the angle and wavelength dependency of transmissive and reflective diffraction.

Improved complete neighbourhood preserving embedding for face recognition

open access: yesIET Computer Vision, 2013
Complete neighbourhood preserving embedding (CNPE) is a recently proposed approach to overcome the drawbacks of neighbourhood preserving embedding (NPE) which is difficult to directly apply to face recognition because of computational complexity. However,

Hessian eigenvalue distribution in a random Gaussian landscape

open access: yesJournal of High Energy Physics, 2018
The energy landscape of multiverse cosmology is often modeled by a multi-dimensional random Gaussian potential. The physical predictions of such models crucially depend on the eigenvalue distribution of the Hessian matrix at potential minima.
