In Situ X‐Ray Tomography and Acoustic Emission Monitoring of Damage Evolution in C/C‐SiC Composites Fabricated by Liquid Silicon Infiltration

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
This study investigates how the internal structure of fiber‐reinforced ceramic composites affects their resistance to damage. By combining 3D X‐ray imaging with acoustic emission monitoring during mechanical testing, it reveals how silicon distribution influences crack formation.

Cosmic web alignments with the shape, angular momentum and peculiar velocities of dark matter haloes [PDF]

open access: yes, 2014
We study the alignment of dark matter haloes with the cosmic web characterized by the tidal and velocity shear fields. We focus on the alignment of their shape, angular momentum and peculiar velocities. We use a cosmological N-body simulation that allows

Direction of Arrival Estimation Method Based on Eigenvalues and Eigenvectors for Coherent Signals in Impulsive Noise

open access: yesMathematics
In this paper, a Toeplitz construction method based on eigenvalues and eigenvectors is proposed to combine with traditional denoising algorithms, including fractional low-order moment (FLOM), phased fractional low-order moment (PFLOM), and correntropy ...

A method for suppressing resonance response of a vibration system coupled by springs

open access: yesNihon Kikai Gakkai ronbunshu, 2019
Since interior noise of an electric vehicle driven by motor has no engine noise, the contribution of the road induced noise at the low-middle vehicle speed range is higher and the noise is more noticeable for passengers compared to a conventional ...

Eigenvectors of the De-Rham Operator

open access: yesMathematics, 2023
We aim to examine the influence of the existence of a nonzero eigenvector ζ of the de-Rham operator Γ on a k-dimensional Riemannian manifold (Nk,g). If the vector ζ annihilates the de-Rham operator, such a vector field is called a de-Rham harmonic vector

Linearizing and Forecasting: A Reservoir Computing Route to Digital Twins of the Brain

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
A new approach uses simple neural networks to create digital twins of brain activity, capturing how different patterns unfold over time. The method generates and recovers key dynamics even from noisy data. When applied to fMRI, it predicts brain signals and reveals distinctive activity patterns across regions and individuals, opening possibilities for ...

Characteristic Min-Polynomial and Eigen Problem of a Matrix over Min-Plus Algebra

open access: yesJTAM (Jurnal Teori dan Aplikasi Matematika), 2023
Let R_ε=R∪{-∞}, with R being a set of all real numbers. The algebraic structure (R_ε,⊕,⊗) is called max-plus algebra. The task of finding the eigenvalue and eigenvector is called the eigenproblem.

Reliable a-posteriori error estimators for $hp$-adaptive finite element approximations of eigenvalue/eigenvector problems [PDF]

open access: yes, 2011
We present reliable a-posteriori error estimates for $hp$-adaptive finite element approximations of eigenvalue/eigenvector problems. Starting from our earlier work on $h$ adaptive finite element approximations we show a way to obtain reliable and ...

Dose‐Dependent Reprogramming of Chromatin Accessibility by SOX4 Drives the Transcriptional Response to Iron Overload

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
This study demonstrates that iron overload triggers widespread chromatin compaction and transcriptional repression in human granulosa cells, recapitulating features of endometriosis. The epigenetic reprogramming is orchestrated by a TFEB‐SOX4‐SWI/SNF axis, with SOX4 acting as a central, dosage‐sensitive regulator.

EQSE Diagonalization of the Hubbard Model

open access: yes, 2000
The application of enhanced quasi-sparse eigenvector methods (EQSE) to the Hubbard model is attempted. The ground state energy for the 4x4 Hubbard model is calculated with a relatively small set of basis vectors.
