Upsampling DINOv2 Features for Unsupervised Vision Tasks and Weakly Supervised Materials Segmentation

Feature from recent image foundation models (DINOv2) are useful for vision tasks (segmentation, object localization) with little or no human input. Once upsampled, they can be used for weakly supervised micrograph segmentation, achieving strong results when compared to classical features (blurs, edge detection) across a range of material systems.

Patterns of spinal motion, kinematic spaces and the land‐to‐sea transition in carnivorans

Using 3D reconstructions, we quantify intervertebral joint mobility to investigate how cervical, thoracic, and lumbar vertebral regions evolved distinct kinematic roles in pinnipeds. The findings reveal lineage‐specific adaptations for swimming and highlight the functional significance of vertebral joint flexibility in ecological transitions.

Eigenvectors in bottleneck algebra

The paper deals with a characterization of the eigenvectors in terms of the associated graph and with an alternative way of computing them. Upper and lower bounds for all eigenvectors are given. The approach is illustrated by several numerical examples.
