Moving Least‐Squares Aided Finite Element Method: A Powerful Means to Evaluate Distributive and Dispersive Mixing

open access: yesPolymer Engineering &Science, Volume 65, Issue 12, Page 6750-6761, December 2025.
We present the Moving Least‐Squares Aided Finite Element Method (MLS‐FEM) as a robust approach to evaluate flow fields in polymer mixers. Using a fixed background mesh that is independent of rotor shape and motion, MLS‐FEM captures distributive and dispersive mixing without the need for mesh regeneration.

Cost‐Effectiveness Analysis of Treatments for Children With Uncontrolled Asthma Symptoms Despite Inhaled Corticosteroids

open access: yesPediatric Pulmonology, Volume 60, Issue 12, December 2025.
ABSTRACT Introduction There is uncertainty about the cost‐effectiveness of treatment options for children and adolescents with uncontrolled asthma despite inhaled corticosteroid (ICS) treatment. Methods A Markov state‐transition model was developed to simulate costs from the perspective of the National Health Service in the UK and health outcomes ...

Nietzsche's Conception of Skepticism as Intellectual Virtue and Vice

open access: yesEuropean Journal of Philosophy, Volume 33, Issue 4, Page 1466-1485, December 2025.
Abstract Recent approaches are unable to make full sense of Nietzsche's distinction between weak and strong skepticism (BGE 208–209; A54). In this paper, I propose an alternative interpretation. My suggestion is that this distinction is best understood in the context of his virtue epistemology.

Climate Emergency and Different Ways to Fail? The Fermi Paradox, the Simulation Hypothesis, Agency and Hope

open access: yesJournal for the Theory of Social Behaviour, Volume 55, Issue 4, December 2025.
ABSTRACT Humanity seems stuck on different ways to fail to meet the challenge posed by a declared climate emergency and manifest the problems of ecological breakdown. Rather than reprise these failures, we use the Fermi Paradox and simulation hypothesis to make a simple point about agency. The argument unfolds in two sections.
