Evolution and decay of an Alice ring in a spinor Bose-Einstein condensate

open access: yesPhysical Review Research, 2023
We use first-principles-derived numerical simulations to investigate the long-time evolution of a half-quantum vortex ring, an Alice ring, arising from the decay dynamics of an isolated monopole in the polar phase of a dilute spin-1 Bose-Einstein ...

Exploring common mechanisms of adverse drug reactions and disease phenotypes through network-based analysis

open access: yesCell Reports: Methods
Summary: The need for a deeper understanding of adverse drug reaction (ADR) mechanisms is vital for improving drug safety and repurposing. This study introduces Drug Adverse Reaction Mechanism Explainer (DREAMER), a network-based framework that uses a ...

Optimal control for generating excited state expansion in ring potential

open access: yesOpen Physics, 2020
We applied an optimal control algorithm to an ultra-cold atomic system for constructing an atomic Sagnac interferometer in a ring trap. We constructed a ring potential on an atom chip by using an RF-dressed potential.

Large magnetic storage ring for Bose-Einstein condensates [PDF]

open access: yesPhysical Review A, 2006
Cold atomic clouds and Bose-Einstein condensates have been stored in a 10cm diameter vertically-oriented magnetic ring. An azimuthal magnetic field enables low-loss propagation of atomic clouds over a total distance of 2m, with a heating rate of less than 50nK/s.

Self-interference of a toroidal Bose–Einstein condensate

open access: yesNew Journal of Physics, 2014
We demonstrate the self-interference of a single Bose–Einstein condensate on a non-simply connected geometry, focussing on a toroidally trapped ring-shaped condensate.

Spontaneous Formations of Dynamical Steady States in Polariton Condensates

open access: yesFrontiers in Physics, 2021
We present a numerical analysis on dynamical steady states of polariton Bose–Einstein condensates (BECs) in an incoherent exciton reservoir driven by a ring-shaped optical pump.

Evaluation of the Potential of Laser Shock Peening Compared with Cold Expansion for Improving Fatigue Resistance of Riveted Lap Joints of Aerospace Grade 7175 Al Alloy

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
This study investigates laser shock peening for enhancing fatigue performance of riveted aerospace aluminum joints. A comparative approach with cold expansion combines fatigue testing and synchrotron X‐ray methods. Integrating mechanical testing with residual stress and strain characterization provides insights into how different treatments affect the ...

Surface Tension Measurement of Ti‐6Al‐4V by Falling Droplet Method in Oxygen‐Free Atmosphere

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
In this article, the temperature‐dependent surface tension of free falling, oscillating Ti‐6Al‐4V droplets is investigated in both argon and monosilane doped, oxygen‐free atmosphere. Droplet temperature and oscillation are captured with one single high‐speed camera, and the surface tension is calculated with Rayleigh's formula.

Holographic Einstein rings of a black hole with a global monopole

open access: yesEuropean Physical Journal C: Particles and Fields
The global monopole solutions which give rise to quite unusual physical phenomena have captured considerable attention. In this paper, we study the Einstein ring of the spherically symmetric AdS black hole solution with a global monopole based on the AdS/

Bose–Einstein condensation in large time-averaged optical ring potentials

open access: yesNew Journal of Physics, 2016
Interferometric measurements with matter waves are established techniques for sensitive gravimetry, rotation sensing, and measurement of surface interactions, but compact interferometers will require techniques based on trapped geometries.
