A comparison of the biology of Eisenia fetida and Eisenia andrei (Oligochaeta)
Biology and Fertility of Soils, 1991Specimens of locally occurring Eisenia fetida were compared with specimens of E. fetida and E. andrei obtained from France. All specimens were cultured in the laboratory under controlled conditions and growth, maturation, cocoon production, hatching success, and the number of hatchlings were compared. The results showed some differences between the two

Fluorescence fingerprints of Eisenia fetida and Eisenia andrei¶
Photochemistry and Photobiology, 2003We describe a fluorescent method that allows to differentiate the worms Eisenia fetida and Eisenia andrei. In fact, the coelomic fluid of E. andrei displays specific fluorescence absent in that of E. fetida. The two species do not metabolize the same types of molecules and thus can be differentiated at the molecular level.

Reproductive potential of the earthworm Eisenia foetida
Oecologia, 1979Regression equations are provided for the earthworm Eisenia foetida with respect to age at which 50% of the population became clitellate at 25° C in relation to population density in activated sludge and in horse manure. Regression equations are provided for progeny per cocoon versus weight of cocoon, and weight of cocoon in relation to weight of ...
