Reverse left ventricular remodeling: Effect of cardiac rehabilitation exercise training in myocardial infarction patients with preserved ejection fraction [PDF]

open access: yes, 2016
BACKGROUND: In the increasingly prevalent population of postmyocardial infarction (MI) patients with preserved left ventricular (LV) ejection fraction (>45%), the effect of cardiac rehabilitation (CR) exercise training on LV structure and function is ...

Role of global longitudinal strain in assessment of left ventricular systolic function in patients with heart failure with preserved ejection fraction

open access: yesJournal of the Saudi Heart Association, 2019
Objectives: To detect systolic dysfunction in heart failure with preserved ejection fraction (HFpEF) patients by using global longitudinal strain (GLS).

Combined Process‐ and Phase‐Field‐Simulation to Predict the Microstructure of Single‐Crystal Ni‐Based Superalloys

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
A combined finite element and phase‐field approach predicts the evolution of microstructure during the directional solidification of Ni‐based superalloys. The model reveals how withdrawal rate, temperature gradient, and wall thickness control the dendrite spacing, highlighting the strong effect of surface regions in thin sections where dendrite growth ...

Management, survival, and predictors of mortality among hospitalized heart failure patients at Debre Markos comprehensive specialized hospital, Northwest Ethiopia: Prospective cohort study

open access: yesSAGE Open Medicine, 2021
Introduction: Heart failure is a major public health problem worldwide. Since heart failure with reduced ejection fraction and preserved ejection fraction are different clinical entities, in-hospital mortality may occur at different rates.

Symbolic Regression and Multi‐Objective Optimization of the Flory–Huggins Interaction Parameter for Hydrogels

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
We develop a data‐driven method to derive the mathematical expressions of the Flory–Huggins interaction parameter χ for the swelling behavior of temperature–responsive hydrogels. Starting from initial assumptions of χ, our workflow combines Bayesian optimization, Flory–Rehner theory, and symbolic regression to generate candidate χ expressions.

Achieved Ejection Fraction and Effects of Dapagliflozin in Heart Failure With Improved Ejection Fraction

open access: yesJACC: Heart Failure
Patients with heart failure with improved ejection fraction (HFimpEF) remain understudied and face residual risks comparable with those with a left ventricular ejection fraction (LVEF) consistently >40% (no prior heart failure with reduced ejection fraction).

Experimental and Numerical Modal Analysis of Composite Sandwich Structures Using Surfboards as Model Systems

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
This article presents an experimental and numerical modal investigation of composite sandwich structures using surfboards as model systems. By comparing different core materials and reinforcement strategies, the study demonstrates how local stiffeners influence vibrational response and introduce characteristic modal features, highlighting modal ...
