2023These three chapters contain three applications of econometric techniques on empirical data describing the behavior of networks of actors. Chapter 1 shows that much of the commonly reported decline in international trade associated with increasing distance between countries is attributable to cultural (in-)compatibility among trading partners.

This thesis is devoted to the models that are suitable for modelling spatial data. For this purpose, random fields with finite index set are used. Based on the neighbourhood relationship a spatial weight matrix is introduced which describes spatial dependencies.

Google ekonometrie: Nezaměstnanost v zemích Visegrádské čtyřky
2014This thesis examines the relationship between job-related Google search query indices and unemployment rate in Visegrad countries. We found that the unemployment rate generally moves in the same direction as the search volume index for the job-related term. The series of Google search query indices also proved useful for prediction-making.
