Polish Archaeology in the Mediterranean, 2007 The author presents here the results of carbon (ẟ13C),oxygen (ẟ18O) and strontium (87Sr/86Sr) isotope analysisof human tooth enamel, which has been used to identifypotential migrants and shed light on the diet of the ancientpopulation of El-Zuma during the post-Meroitic/EarlyMakuria period (c. AD 350–600).

Kings and peasants from El-Zuma/El-Detti microregion in the Early Makurian period. Economic aspects of animal bones from funerary contexts. [PDF]
PLoS One, 2019 Tumuli fields at El-Zuma and El-Detti were dated to the 2nd phase of the Early Makurian period, c. AD 450-550. They represented three types of tombs of different sizes and structures. The animal remains from these graves were analyzed in the context of animal economy practiced by the people who lived in the vicinity of the burial sites.

Remarks on pottery production, technology and vessel usage in el-Zuma [PDF]
Polish Archaeology in the Mediterranean, 2017 Continuing excavation in the tumuli field in el-Zuma has yielded an extensive pottery assemblage, adding to the material that has already been published in general reports. New types and variants of vessels have been identified. The article presents the new material and discusses production technologies, surface treatment and peculiarities of usage.
