Elastic-plastic response of TiB2 under shock compression [PDF]
Particle velocity profiles of a TiB2 ceramics under one-dimension plate impact were measured up to 45 GPa. The Hugoniot-elastic limit of TiB2 was determined to be 8–9 GPa.

Seismic Response Characteristics of Stabilizing Pile Based on Elastic-Plastic Analysis [PDF]
Stabilizing pile is widely used in the landslide controlling projects and shows excellent seismic performance under the action of earthquake. Therefore, in order to improve seismic design theory, it is of importance to study the seismic response ...

Seismic Performance Evaluation of a High-Rise Building with Structural Irregularities
In this study, the seismic performances of a 14-storey office building in Nanjing, China, due to its plan and vertical irregularities in the structural system, were evaluated using the response spectrum method, elastic time history analysis and elastic ...

Reaching the Yield Point of a Glass During X-Ray Irradiation
A solid loaded beyond the yield stress loses its elastic properties and becomes plastic. From a microscopic point of view, this limit corresponds to the condition where plastic regions become so densely packed that they give rise to system-spanning ...

Elastic–plastic response of plates subjected to cleared blast loads [PDF]
A commonly used approach for the engineering analysis of structures subjected to explosive loads is to approximate the problem as an equivalent Single-Degree-of-Freedom (SDOF) system and to use elastic–plastic response spectra. Currently, the response spectra that exist in the literature do not take into account the fact that blast wave clearing will ...

The double impulse is introduced as a substitute of the fling-step near-fault ground motion and a critical elastic-plastic response of a 2DOF (two-degree-of-freedom) building structure under the ‘critical double impulse’ is evaluated.

High resolution incremental stress testing of crushable granular materials [PDF]
The incremental behaviour of crushable sands is investigated by means of a Discrete Element Method (DEM) based analogue. The DEM sample is subjected to a comprehensive set of small stress perturbations in the triaxial plane in order to identify the basic

Elastic-Plastic Response of Pipe under Collision
It is necessary to have a comprehensive understanding of the structural response under collision to design offshore structures against possible accidents. A general procedure based on theoretical analyses to classify the elastic responses of frame structures under collision has been reported by the authors.

Elastic-Plastic Response Charts for Nuclear Overpressures [PDF]
Abstract : The single-degree-of-freedom equation of motion for an elastic- plastic system with forcing functions that are representative of nuclear weapon simulations is nondimensionalized and solved. Numerical solutions are calculated by the Newmark Beta method, and response charts incorporating nondimensionalized structural and loading parameters for
