General Dynamic Collapse Criterion for Elastic–Plastic Structures Under Double Impulse as Substitute of Near-Fault Ground Motion

open access: yesFrontiers in Built Environment, 2020
A dynamic collapse criterion for elastic–plastic structures under near-fault ground motions is derived analytically by approximately transforming near-fault ground motions into double impulse and using an energy balance law.

A Multidimensional Elastic–Plastic Calculation Model of the Frame Structure with Magnetorheological Damper

open access: yesActuators, 2022
To analyze the multidimensional elastic–plastic response of the frame structure with magnetorheological (MR) dampers under strong seismic excitations, the test of the MRD was performed, the location matrix of the MRD in the frame structure was derived ...

Preparation and elastic–plastic indentation response of MgAlON transparent ceramics

open access: yesCeramics International, 2022
Abstract MgAlON transparent ceramic was prepared via pressureless sintering and post hot isostatic pressing. The in-line transmittance of MgAlON ceramic exceeds 80% in the range 0.39–4.67 μm, and the ceramic was fully dense with average grain sizes ∼55 μm. The mechanical properties at the grain boundary (GB) and the center of the grain (CG) of MgAlON

Safety Assessment of Masonry Arch Bridges Considering the Fracturing Benefit

open access: yesApplied Sciences, 2020
The evolutionary analysis of the fracturing process is an effective tool to assess of the structural bearing capacity of masonry arch bridges. Despite their plain basic assumptions, it must be remarked that elastic analysis and plastic or limit analysis ...

Mechanically equivalent elastic-plastic deformations and the problem of plastic spin [PDF]

open access: yesTheoretical and Applied Mechanics, 2011
The problem of plastic spin is phrased in terms of a notion of mechanical equivalence among local intermediate configurations of an elastic/ plastic crystalline solid. This idea is used to show that, without further qualification, the plastic spin may

Critical Response of Nonlinear Base-Isolated Building Considering Soil-Structure Interaction Under Double Impulse as Substitute for Near-Fault Ground Motion

open access: yesFrontiers in Built Environment, 2018
The critical nonlinear response considering soil-structure interaction is investigated for a base-isolated building under a double impulse as a substitute for near-fault earthquake ground motions.

Dynamic Elastic-Plastic Response of Frame Structures under Collision

open access: yesJournal of the Society of Naval Architects of Japan, 1985
Offshore structures are exposed to higher probability of collision with ships or icebergs because of their limited mobility. In general, the consequence of the collision is disastrous. It is important to study the behavior of offshore structures under collision to ensure their safety. In this paper, dynamic elastic-plastic response of frame structures ...
