Phenomenological and Physically Based Modeling of Flow Stress and Strengthening Mechanism of Inconel 718

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, Volume 28, Issue 11, 3 June 2026.
Nickel‐based alloys are widely used in high‐temperature applications due to their excellent mechanical strength and oxidation resistance. However, properties such as high‐temperature strength and pronounced work‐hardening make them difficult to machine.

Elastic In-Plane Buckling of Funicular Arches

International Journal of Structural Stability and Dynamics, 2020
Buckling loads of arches could be significantly affected by the assumptions made on the load behavior during buckling. For a funicular arch whose centerline coincides with the compression line, we may consider two types of load behaviors based on how the line of load action shifts during buckling.

The Dynamics of the Buckling of Elastic Columns

Journal of Applied Mechanics, 1951
Abstract The motion of a perfectly elastic initially slightly curved column is calculated when one of its ends is displaced axially at a constant speed in a perfectly rigid testing machine. A nondimensional quantity Ω is defined which depends only upon the slenderness ratio of the column and the ratio of the velocity of the propagation ...
