Exploiting Elastic Energy Storage for Cyclic Manipulation: Modeling, Stability, and Observations for Dribbling [PDF]

open access: yes, 2011
For creating robots that are capable of human like performance in terms of speed, energetic properties, and robustness, intrinsic compliance is a promising design element. In this paper we investigate the effects of elastic energy storage and release

Dispersion characteristics of a nonlinear elastic metamaterial

open access: yesAIP Advances, 2014
We study wave dispersion in a one-dimensional nonlinear elastic metamaterial consisting of a thin rod with periodically attached local resonators. Our model is based on an exact finite-strain dispersion relation for a homogeneous solid, utilized in ...

Early‐life high‐fat diet exposure increases Achilles tendon stiffness and induces transcriptomic alterations

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Early‐life exposure to a high‐fat diet altered intact Achilles tendons in rat offspring, making them thinner, stiffer, and molecularly distinct even without injury. These findings suggest that developmental high‐fat diet exposure may impair tendon quality and increase susceptibility to mechanical overload or tendon injury later in life.

Siloxane Molecules: Nonlinear Elastic Behavior and Fracture Characteristics

open access: yesMacromolecules, 2023
Fracture phenomena in soft materials span multiple length and time scales. This poses a major challenge in computational modeling and predictive materials design. To pass quantitatively from molecular to continuum scales, a precise representation of the material response at the molecular level is vital.

Designing 3D Digital Metamaterial for Elastic Waves: From Elastic Wave Polarizer to Vibration Control

open access: yesAdvanced Science, 2019
Elastic wave polarizers, which can filter out linearly polarized elastic waves from hybrid elastic waves, remain a challenge since elastic waves contain both transverse and longitudinal natures.

Early Clinical, Imaging, and Pathological Characteristics of SRPK3/TTN‐Digenic Myopathy

open access: yesAnnals of Clinical and Translational Neurology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Objective SRPK3/TTN‐digenic myopathy was recently established as a skeletal muscle myopathy caused by digenic inheritance. This study characterizes the early clinical presentation of SRPK3/TTN‐digenic myopathy in one previously reported and seven newly identified pediatric patients.
