The Elasticity of Substitution and the Shape of the Transformation Curve

Economica, 1973
The purpose of this paper is to determine, for a country producing two goods with two factors, how the shape of the transformation curve depends on the elasticities of substitution in production in the two industries. Harry Johnson' has examined the shape of the transformation curve and has concluded that it is much less bowed out than is traditionally

Elastic equilibrium of curved thin films

Physical Review E, 1994
We present a unified theory of the bending of crystalline films that accounts for both elastic effects and crystal defects. Our theory predicts a transition from a bent coherent film with no dislocations to an incoherent, dislocated one as the film thickness or curvature is increased.

ON SPHERICAL ELASTIC CURVES: SPHERICAL INDICATRIX ELASTIC CURVES

2016
In this paper, we study spherical elastic curves corresponding spherical indicatrix of regular curves with non-vanishing curvature in Euclidean 3-space. From classical variational problem of elastic curves, we derive two Euler-Lagrange equations associated to actions of bending energy functional defined on tangent spherical indicatrix of curves in ...

On the stability of elastic curved bars

Acta Mechanica Sinica, 1987
A general discussion about the stability of arbitrary elastic curved bars in space under combined actions of bending and twisting is given in this paper. A system of Eqs. (28)–(36) for perturbation functions near some equilibrium state is presented. With appropriate boundary conditions, the nontrivial solution corresponds to the critical state.

Elastic-Plastic R-Curves

Journal of Engineering Materials and Technology, 1978
The principal purpose of this investigation was to study specimen size effects on elastic-plastic type R-curve using HY130 steel plate. Compact specimens ranging in size from 12T to 1T in planar dimensions and standardized on 1-inch thickness were used.

Impedance curves for an elastic pile

Soil Dynamics and Earthquake Engineering, 1989
An extensive parametric study is conducted to investigate the impedance characteristics of a single elastic pile embedded in an elastic soil medium. A recently developed semi-analytical model based on Green's functions for a system of buried harmonic loading configurations is used in this study.

Elastic curves on the sphere

2013
This paper deals with the derivation of equations suitable for the computation of elastic curves on the sphere. To this end equations for the main invariants of spherical elastic curves are given. A new method for solving geometrically constraint Differential equations is used to compute the curves for given initial values.

Unfolding a Curved Elastic Sheet

Journal of Mechanical Engineering Science, 1981
A curved elastic sheet is flattened on a rigid flat plate by vertical end forces. The problem is governed by a non-dimensional parameter, B, which signifies the relative importance of flexural rigidity to the applied force and the natural radius.

Elastic Properties of Curved Tubes

Journal of Fluids Engineering, 1943
Abstract A theory of flexibility of pipe bends perpendicular to the plane of the bend has been established. Experimental results are given in this paper verifying the derived bending equations. Results show the pipes to be more flexible than expected from the application of the “rod” theory.
