Weak elastic energy of irregular curves
A weak notion of elastic energy for (not necessarily regular) rectifiable curves in any space dimension is proposed. Ourp-energy is defined through a relaxation process, where a suitablep-rotation of inscribed polygons is adopted. The discretep-rotation we choose has a geometric flavour: a polygon is viewed as an approximation to a smooth curve, and ...

Evolution characteristics of elastic energy storage of marble under creep loading
In order to study the energy absorption and transformation characteristics of marble, the release of strain energy and dissipation mechanism during creep process, this paper tested the stress-strain relationship of marble under uniaxial cyclic loading ...

Although diffusion tensor imaging (DTI) can identify white matter (WM) alterations due to mild cases of traumatic brain injury (mTBI), the task of within-subject longitudinal matching of DTI streamlines remains challenging in this condition.

Elastic curves and self-intersections [PDF]
This is an expository note to give a brief review of classical elastica theory, mainly prepared for giving a more detailed proof of the author's Li--Yau type inequality for self-intersecting curves in Euclidean space. We also discuss some open problems in related topics.

Black rubber and the non-linear elastic response of scale invariant solids
We discuss the nonlinear elastic response in scale invariant solids. Following previous work, we split the analysis into two basic options: according to whether scale invariance (SI) is a manifest or a spontaneously broken symmetry.

Curves in the Lorentz-Minkowski plane with curvature depending on their position
Motivated by the classical Euler elastic curves, David A. Singer posed in 1999 the problem of determining a plane curve whose curvature is given in terms of its position. We propound the same question in the Lorentz-Minkowski plane, focusing on spacelike

How a Curved Elastic Strip Opens [PDF]
An elastic strip is transversely clamped in a curved frame. The induced curvature decreases as the strip opens and connects to its flat natural shape. Various ribbon profiles are measured and the scaling law for the opening length validates a description where the in-plane stretching gradually relaxes the bending stress.

Elastic Sturmian spirals in the Lorentz-Minkowski plane
In this paper we consider some elastic spacelike and timelike curves in the Lorentz-Minkowski plane and obtain the respective vectorial equations of their position vectors in explicit analytical form.

Axial Compression Behaviour and Modelling of Pultruded Basalt-Fibre-Reinforced Polymer (BFRP) Tubes
Laminated fibre-reinforced polymer (FRP) tubes are increasingly used as compression members in large-span spatial structures due to their high bearing capacity, corrosion resistance, and superior stability compared to high-strength steel pipes.
