How a Curved Elastic Strip Opens [PDF]
An elastic strip is transversely clamped in a curved frame. The induced curvature decreases as the strip opens and connects to its flat natural shape. Various ribbon profiles are measured and the scaling law for the opening length validates a description where the in-plane stretching gradually relaxes the bending stress.

Laser induced Zero-Group Velocity resonances in Transversely Isotropic cylinder
The transient response of an elastic cylinder to a laser impact is studied. When the laser source is a line perpendicular to the cylinder axis, modes guided along the cylinder are generated.

Exploring the Nonlinear Viscoelasticity of a High Viscosity Silicone Oil with Laos
Measurements and modeling of the nonlinear viscoelastic properties of a high viscosity silicone oil (polydimethylsiloxane, PDMS) are reported. LAOS test were performed with a high precision rotational rheometer to probe the nonlinear response.

Interlaminate Deformation in Thermoplastic Composite Laminates: Experimental-Numerical Correlation
The interlaminar deformation behaviors of thermoplastic AS4/PEEK composite laminates subjected to static tensile loading are investigated by means of microscopic moiré interferometry with high spatial resolution. The fully threedimensional orthotropic

The elastic flow of curves on the sphere
Abstract We consider closed curves on the sphere moving by the L2-gradient flow of the elastic energy both with and without penalisation of the length and show short-time and long-time existence of the flow. Moreover, when the length is penalised, we prove sub-convergence to critical points.

Finite indentation of highly curved elastic shells [PDF]
Experimentally measuring the elastic properties of thin biological surfaces is non-trivial, particularly when they are curved. One technique that may be used is the indentation of a thin sheet of material by a rigid indenter, while measuring the applied force and displacement.

Elasticity of polyelectrolyte multilayer microcapsules
We present a novel approach to probe elastic properties of polyelectrolyte multilayer microcapsules. The method is based on measurements of the capsule load-deformation curves with the atomic force microscope.

Shearing or Compressing a Soft Glass in 2D: Time-concentration superposition
We report surface shear rheological measurements on dense insoluble monolayers of micron sized colloidal spheres at the oil/water interface and of the protein $\beta$-lactoglobulin at the air/water surface.
