Free–Free Beam Resting on Tensionless Elastic Foundation Subjected to Patch Load

open access: yesMathematics, 2022
Despite the popularity of a completely free beam resting on a tensionless foundation in the construction industry, the existing bending analysis solutions are limited to certain types of loads (mostly point and uniformly distributed loads); these are ...

Nonlinear waves in an elastic guide interacting with an elastic-inertial foundation

open access: yesMATEC Web of Conferences, 2018
This paper deals with the study of the transverse wave propagation in a string resting on an elastic-inertial foundation. A self-consistent dynamic problem is herein considered for a system composed of a one-dimensional flexible guide (string) and an ...

Residual tail twisting in ascidian larvae is stabilized by asymmetric myofibrils that resist bilateral symmetry restoration

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Ascidian Ciona larvae initially show strong clockwise tail twisting, which is largely corrected during development. However, a small residual twist remains. This study shows that organized helical myofibrils in tail muscles mechanically stabilize this residual asymmetry, preventing complete restoration of bilateral symmetry and revealing how embryos ...

Analysis of Beams on Non-Linear Elastic Winkler Foundation [PDF]

open access: yesEngineering and Technology Journal, 2005
This paper deals with thin beams resting on non-linear Winkler foundations by using the secant modulus approach to specify the modulus of subgrade reaction.

The human gut microbiome across the life course

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Despite significant individual variation and continuous change throughout life, the human gut microbiome follows some life stage‐specific trends. This article provides a brief overview of how gut microbiome composition shifts across different phases of life. Created in BioRender. Özkurt, E. (2026) https://BioRender.com/8q4nrnc.

Experimental and Stochastic Application of an Elastic Foundation in Loose Material Transport via a Sandwich Belt Conveyor—Part 2

open access: yesMachines, 2023
This article serves as a continuation of our previously published work and focuses on loose material transport via sandwich belt conveyors. Experimental, analytical, stochastic, and numerical approaches are used to obtain and utilize the moduli of a ...

Longitudinal genome‐wide aneuploidy measurements in circulating cell‐free DNA to predict lack of benefit from pembrolizumab in patients with metastatic urothelial cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Many patients with urothelial cancer do not benefit from treatment with pembrolizumab, while at risk of severe side effects. Changes in the levels of circulating tumor DNA early during treatment, measured by a simple and affordable assay that can be easily implemented in the clinic, can be used as a prognostic tool to identify these patients.

open access: yesAlexandria Engineering Journal, 2016
In the present study, large amplitude free vibration of beams resting on variable elastic foundation is investigated. The Euler–Bernoulli hypothesis and the Winkler model have been applied for beam and elastic foundation, respectively.

A light‐triggered Time‐Resolved X‐ray Solution Scattering (TR‐XSS) workflow with application to protein conformational dynamics

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Time‐resolved X‐ray solution scattering captures how proteins change shape in real time under near‐native conditions. This article presents a practical workflow for light‐triggered TR‐XSS experiments, from data collection to structural refinement. Using a calcium‐transporting membrane protein as an example, the approach can be broadly applied to study ...
