Elastic-Plastic Slabs on Elastic Foundation

Journal of the Structural Division, 1978
A method of analysis and design of rectangular and circular elastoplastic, reinforced concrete, and slabs resting on a Winkler-type foundation is proposed in this paper. The method is an application of the yield-line theory of structures and gives upper bounds of the true limit loads.

Plates on Elastic Foundation

Journal of Structural Engineering, 1990
Analysis of rectangular plates resting on a Winkler-type, one-parameter foundation is studied. The finite element method is applied and a 12-degree-of-freedom, nonconforming rectangular plate element is adopted. Based on shape functions of the plate element, an energy approach is used to derive a closed-form, 12-by-12, consistent foundation stiffness ...

Beams on Variable Winkler Elastic Foundation

Journal of Applied Mechanics, 1986
A stiffness approach is presented for computing the solution of beams on variable Winkler foundation. The solution may be achieved using only a small number of elements along the beam. Accuracy is dependent only on a preset user criterion. A numerical example demonstrates the efficiency and accuracy of the procedure.

Elastic and Viscoelastic Foundation Models

Journal of Applied Mechanics, 1964
The present paper contains a critical study of a number of foundation models as well as a further development of some of the ideas involved. Among others it is shown that the Pasternak foundation is a mechanical model for the so-called “generalized” foundation.

Beams on bilinear elastic foundations

International Journal of Mechanical Sciences, 1972
Abstract A perturbation solution to the dynamical problem of an Euler-Bernoulli beam on a piecewise linear elastic foundation is presented. The response of the foundation is assumed to be different in compression and in tension. Property difference of the foundation is symbolized by the perturbation parameter (foundation parameter) used in the ...

Beam on Tensionless Elastic Foundation

Journal of Engineering Mechanics, 1987
An infinitely long elastic beam rests under gravity on a tensionless elastic foundation and is acted upon by a pair of moving loads. This action results in the creation of lift‐off regions between the beam and the foundation that effect the character of the response.
