Elastic moduli of alumina nanoceramics

open access: yesJournal of Physics: Conference Series, 2015
In this study we investigated the physico-mechanical properties of alumina nanoceramics, that is used as substrates in micro- and optoelectronics chips. The elastic characteristics (Young's modulus E, shear modulus G, Poisson's ratio v, microhardness H) are determined by measuring the longitudinal and transverse wave velocities.

Elastic Properties of C-Type Lanthanide Sesquioxides

open access: yesEast European Journal of Physics
In this study, we have presented the solid-state theory of plasma oscillations to investigate the anisotropic elastic properties such as three independent static elastic stiffness constants (Cij: C11, C12 & C44) of C-type Ln2O3 lanthanide solids.

Laser‐Induced Graphene from Waste Almond Shells

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Almond shells, an abundant agricultural by‐product, are repurposed to create a fully bioderived almond shell/chitosan composite (ASC) degradable in soil. ASC is converted into laser‐induced graphene (LIG) by laser scribing and proposed as a substrate for transient electronics.

Finite-element analysis-based design and efficacy assessment of a three-dimensional anisotropic heel cushioning pad for diabetic foot management

open access: yesFrontiers in Bioengineering and Biotechnology
BackgroundDiabetic foot ulcer (DFU) is a common complication observed in diabetic patients, which can lead to lower limb amputation in severe cases and seriously impair the patient’s mobility and even endanger life.

Substrate Stress Relaxation Regulates Cell‐Mediated Assembly of Extracellular Matrix

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Silicone‐based viscoelastic substrates with tunable stress relaxation reveal how matrix mechanics regulates cellular mechanosensing and cell‐mediated matrix remodelling in the stiff regime. High stress relaxation promotes assembly of fibronectin fibril‐like structures, increased nuclear localization of YAP and formation of β1 integrin‐enriched ...

Porosity dependence of elastic constants in aluminum nitride ceramics

open access: yesMaterials Research, 2007
Aluminum nitride is a relatively new engineering ceramic and its mechanical properties have not been extensively studied. In this work, the effects of porosity (~0 to 38%) on sonic velocities, Poisson's ratio, and elastic moduli of partially sintered A1N,

Microporous Microgel Assemblies Facilitating the Recruitment and Osteogenic Differentiation of Progenitor Cells for Bone Regeneration

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
There is a significant need for biomaterials with well‐defined stability and bioactivity to support tissue regeneration. In this study, we developed a tunable microgel platform that enables the decoupling of stiffness from porosity, thereby promoting bone regeneration.

Effect of Cylinder Size on the Modulus of Elasticity and Compressive Strength of Concrete from Static and Dynamic Tests

open access: yesAdvances in Materials Science and Engineering, 2015
The primary objective of this study is to investigate the effects of cylinder size (150 by 300 mm and 100 by 200 mm) on empirical equations that relate static elastic moduli and compressive strength and static and dynamic elastic moduli of concrete.
