In filled skutterudite compounds and clathrate compounds, guest atoms, which are accommodated in polyhedral cages, exhibit an anharmonic oscillation so-called the rattling motion. The rattling motion is suggested by inelastic neutron scattering experiments in filled skutterudite compound LaFe 4 Sb 12 .
