Elastic properties

The Leading Edge, 2000
At last, the opportunity to write an entire page about elastic properties in an SEG publication without the dreaded “benefit” of peer review! Having gotten your attention, I will provide a disclaimer that this discussion is definitely a scientific “stretch” and that any and all material presented is totally without scientific merit.

Anisotropic elastic properties of microtubules

The European Physical Journal E, 2005
We review and model the experimental parameters which characterize elastic properties of microtubules. Three macroscopic estimates are made of the anisotropic elastic moduli, accounting for the molecular forces between tubulin dimers: for a longitudinal compression of a microtubule, for a lateral force and for a shearing force.

Elastic Properties of Polymer Networks

Journal of Molecular Modeling, 1996
Many fundamental questions for the understanding of polymer melts and networks are more suitably addressed by current computer simulations than by experiments. The reason is that simulations have simultaneous access to the microscopic structure and the macroscopic behavior of well-defined model systems.

Elastic Properties of Living Cells

2011
Constitutive behavior of living cells is in deep relationship with their biological properties. For that reason gathering the most detailed information on cell mechanical behavior as it is feasible becomes extremely useful in assessing therapeutic protocols.

The elasticity and related properties of rubbers

Reports on Progress in Physics, 1973
Abstract In Section I the relation of rubbers to other classes of polymers and the molecular basis of rubber elasticity are briefly examined. In Section II the methods used in the quantitative development of the statistical-thermodynamic theory of a molecular network are outlined, and the main conclusions, in the form of stress—strain relations,

Elastic properties

2003
In this chapter, the strain and stress tensors are defined and their main properties are derived. The elastic tensors, elastic stiffnesses and elastic compliances are then introduced. Their variation with orientation, depending on the crystal class, is given in the case of Young's modulus.
