Effective Elastic Properties

2016
Basic notions of elasticity theory in composites are presented. Effective elastic properties in the vicinity of percolation threshold are discussed.

Elastic properties of colloidal crystals

Physical Review B, 1992
The shear modulus of colloidal dispersions was calculated by assuming the purely repulsive Derjaguin-Landau-Verwey-Overbeek (DLVO) potential and the Sogami potential containing a short-range repulsion and long-range attraction. These two potentials gave practically the same shear moduli, which were in a good agreement with the observed values.

Elastic properties of the lens

Experimental Eye Research, 1963
The visco-elastic properties of the crystalline lens have been studied with the use of a mechano-electric transducer. Application of an external force to the lens caused rapid deformation followed by a second phase of further deformation. On removal of the force, a rapid partial reversal of the deformation occurred and was followed by gradual ...

The elastic properties of elastin

Biopolymers, 1974
AbstractThe thermoelastic properties of elastin immersed in water or in aqueous solutions of alcohols closely resemble those of typical polymers in the rubber elastic state. The evolution of heat much in excess of the work performed on elastin when it is stretched while immersed in water at ca. 25°C is attributable to the exothermic heat of dilution by

ELASTIC PROPERTIES OF MANGANESE FLUORIDE

Solid State Communications, 1963
Abstract The elastic constants and compressibility of manganese fluoride have been measured between 4·2°K and 300°K. Analysis of these data give a Debye temperature (elastic) of 214°K ± 2°K. The compressibility data indicates that the magnetic ordering effects the compressibility at least 100°K above the Neel temperature.

Materials properties: elasticity

2015
Once fundamental scientific laws are understood, engineering technology depends on advances in materials – materials science – more than any other factor. Historically, ages have been named for the most advanced materials technology available: Stone Age, Bronze Age, Iron Age.

Elastic properties

2003
In this chapter, the strain and stress tensors are defined and their main properties are derived. The elastic tensors, elastic stiffnesses and elastic compliances are then introduced. Their variation with orientation, depending on the crystal class, is given in the case of Young's modulus.

Microscopic Elastic Properties

2010
Several high frequency ultrasound techniques have been developed during the last decade with the intention to assess elastic properties of bone at the tissue level. In this chapter three major principles are described with exemplary measurements in the frequency range from 50MHz to 1.2GHz.
