Bioprosthetic aortic valves have revolutionized the treatment of aortic stenosis, but their durability is limited by structural valve deterioration (SVD). This review focuses on the pericardial tissue at the heart of these valves, examining how its mechanical properties and calcification drive fatigue and failure.

The spectrum of fibroelastolytic papulosis: a retrospective case series.
Introduction: There is an overlap between clinical and pathological features of the entities known as pseudoxanthoma elasticum-like papillary dermal elastolysis (PXE-PDE) and white fibrous papulosis of the neck (WFPN).

The elastic microstructure of various tissues
Previous work has indicated that a modified Quate-Lemons scanning acoustic microscope (SAM) is capable of measuring the acoustic propagation properties of sections of biological tissue. The lens is excited by an impulse, rather than a tone burst, and the undemodulated returning signal from the tissue is recorded.

Tissue Engineered Human Elastic Cartilage From Primary Auricular Chondrocytes for Ear Reconstruction
Despite over three decades of research, no tissue‐engineered solution for auricular reconstruction in microtia patients has reached clinical translation. The key challenge lies in generating functional elastic cartilage ex vivo. Here, we integrate synergistic cell‐biomaterial strategies to engineer auricular grafts with mechanical and histological ...

In Situ 3D Bioprinting: Impact of Cross‐Linking on the Adhesive Properties of Hydrogels
In situ 3D bioprinting enables the direct deposition of cell‐laden, adhesive biomaterials for on‐site tissue regeneration. This review provides a comprehensive overview of how cross‐linking influences the bioadhesive properties of hydrogels used in 3D bioprinting, highlighting cross‐linking triggers, bioadhesion mechanisms, polymer interpenetration ...

Elastin biology and tissue engineering with adult cells
The inability of adult cells to produce well-organized, robust elastic fibers has long been a barrier to the successful engineering of certain tissues. In this review, we focus primarily on elastin with respect to tissue-engineered vascular substitutes ...

Development of a new noninvasive method to determine the integrity of bone in vivo [PDF]
An electromagnetic sensor for monitoring elastic waves in bone was developed. It does not require the use of traction pins and the output is not affected by soft tissue properties, a difficulty commonly encountered when using ultrasonic and vibration ...

This work introduces UV‐curable poly(thio)urethane (PSU) thermosets as 4D printable scaffolds responsive to oxidative stress. PSU networks with 100 wt.% polypropylene glycol (PPG) effectively suppress inflammatory markers in microglial cells to basal values.
