Current and Future Cornea Chip Models for Advancing Ophthalmic Research and Therapeutics

open access: yesAdvanced Biology, EarlyView.
This review analyzes cornea chip technology as an innovative solution to corneal blindness and tissue scarcity. The examination encompasses recent developments in biomaterial design and fabrication methods replicating corneal architecture, highlighting applications in drug screening and disease modeling while addressing key challenges in mimicking ...

Sparse Elasticity Reconstruction and Clustering using Local Displacement Fields [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2019
This paper introduces an elasticity reconstruction method based on local displacement observations of elastic bodies. Sparse reconstruction theory is applied to formulate the underdetermined inverse problems of elasticity reconstruction including unobserved areas.

A midsurface elasticity model for a thin, nonlinear, gradient elastic plate [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2023
In this paper, we derive a dynamic surface elasticity model for the two-dimensional midsurface of a thin, three-dimensional, homogeneous, isotropic, nonlinear gradient elastic plate of thickness $h$. The resulting model is parameterized by five, conceivably measurable, physical properties of the plate, and the stored surface energy reduces to Koiter's ...

RhoA and Rac1 as Mechanotransduction Mediators in Colorectal Cancer

open access: yesAdvanced Biology, EarlyView.
Analysing RhoA and Rac1 protein levels in Colorectal cancer (CRC) samples under mechanical strain highlights their potential as diagnostic markers. Monitoring their activity could offer valuable insights into how cancer spreads, paving the way for new approaches to better understand and diagnose colorectal cancer.

Elastic Wave Control Beyond Band-Gaps: Shaping the Flow of Waves in Plates and Half-Spaces with Subwavelength Resonant Rods

open access: yesFrontiers in Mechanical Engineering, 2017
In metamaterial science, local resonance and hybridization are key phenomena strongly influencing the dispersion properties; the metasurface discussed in this article created by a cluster of resonators, subwavelength rods, atop an elastic surface being ...

A symmetric formula of transformed elasticity tensor in PML domain for elastic wave problem [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2020
The perfectly matched layer is very important for the elastic wave problem in the frequency domain. Generally, the formulas of the elasticity tensor in the perfectly matched layers are derived from the transformed momentum equation. In this note, we proved that the transformed elasticity tensor derived in this way lost its symmetry.

Meningkatkan Hasil Belajar Siswa Melalui Penerapan Pembelajaran Kooperatif Tipe Think Pair-Share(TPS)

open access: yesBerkala Ilmiah Pendidikan Fisika, 2013
The low student’s achievement in physics is supposed because of the lack of variation in teacher learning model used. It has an impact on students' social skills. Their skills are lower and  the students tend to be passive.

Thin layer concrete blockwork in compression: an experimental analysis

open access: yesEngineering Structures and Technologies, 2015
The compressive strength of concrete block masonry is dependent upon the unit compressive strength, the type of unit, the mortar and the form of masonry construction (Mirza et al. 1995).

Experimental migration upward in elevation is associated with strong selection on life history traits

open access: yesEcology and Evolution, 2020
One of the strongest biological impacts of climate change has been the movement of species poleward and upward in elevation. Yet, what is not clear is the extent to which the spatial distribution of locally adapted lineages and ecologically important ...

Hydrodynamic Theory of Granular Solids: Permanent, Transient and Granular Elasticity [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2007
Although fully elastic when static, granular media become transiently elastic when being slowly sheared -- during which both the elastic energy and stress relax. Starting from this observation, we cogently derive the framework for granular hydrodynamics, a set of differential equations consistent with general principles of physics, especially ...
