Elasticity of Substitution between Capital and Labor and its applications to growth and development [PDF]

open access: yes
This paper estimates the elasticity of substitution of an aggregate production function. The estimating equation is derived from the steady state of a neoclassical growth model.

Biomimetic Iridescent Skin: Robust Prototissues Spontaneously Assembled from Photonic Protocells

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Uniform nanoparticles are induced to form arrays (photonic crystals) in the cores of biopolymer capsules, endowing these ‘protocells’ with structural color. These protocells are then assembled into large self‐standing objects, i.e., prototissues, with robust mechanical properties as well as iridescent optical properties.

The Morishima Gross Elasticity of Substitution [PDF]

open access: yes
We show that the Hotelling-Lau elasticity of substitution, an extension of the Allen-Uzawa elasticity to allow for optimal output-quantity (or utility) responses to changes in factor prices, inherits all of the failings of the Allen-Uzawa elasticity ...

Smart, Bio‐Inspired Polymers and Bio‐Based Molecules Modified by Zwitterionic Motifs to Design Next‐Generation Materials for Medical Applications

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Bio‐based and (semi‐)synthetic zwitterion‐modified novel materials and fully synthetic next‐generation alternatives show the importance of material design for different biomedical applications. The zwitterionic character affects the physiochemical behavior of the material and deepens the understanding of chemical interaction mechanisms within the ...

Derivation of the Hicks Elasticity of Substitution from the Input Distance Function [PDF]

open access: yes
The Hicks or direct elasticity of substitution is traditionally derived from the production function. This paper exploits duality theory to present a more general derivation from the input distance function, which is exactly dual to the Shadow Elasticity

Light‐Responsive Enzyme‐Loaded Nanoparticles for Tunable Adhesion and Mechanical Wound Contraction

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
This study presents a photoactivatable enzyme‐loaded mesoporous nanoparticle system (MPDA_PaTy) that enables light‐triggered tunable tissue adhesion and facilitates mechanical wound contraction. Controlled enzymatic crosslinking at tissue or hydrogel interfaces allows on‐demand adhesion.

A Cross-Country Estimation of the Elasticity of Substitution between Labor and Capital in Manufacturing Industries [PDF]

open access: yes
This paper presents a simple methodology to estimate the elasticity of substitution between labor and capital for firms operating in perfectly competitive factor markets with constant-elasticity-of-substitution technologies.

Keanjalan penggantian antara kemahiran dalam sektor pembuatan di Malaysia [PDF]

open access: yes, 2004
It is very crucial to know the elasticity of substitution among various sectors, skills and between skills and physical capital because it will help the producers in planning their manpower.

Some Measurements of Elasticities of Substitution [PDF]

open access: yesThe Review of Economics and Statistics, 1946
So far, when measuring elasticities of demand, most econometricians have concentrated upon the plain elasticity of total demand for a given commodity. For many important problems we should, in addition, like to know something of "partial elasticities," as I might provisionally call them.
