FORWARD PHYSICS AT THE LHC: ELASTIC SCATTERING [PDF]
The following effects in the nearly forward ("soft") region of the LHC are proposed to be investigated: • At small |t| the fine structure of the cone (Pomeron) should be scrutinized: (a) a break of the cone near t ≈ -0.1 GeV 2, due to the two-pion threshold, and required by t-channel unitarity, and (b) possible small-period oscillations between t = 0

Physical Properties of Elastic Duplicating Materials [PDF]
Agar has been used for a number of years in the preparation of elastic duplicating materials. These duplicating materials have been used mainly in partial denture prosthesis for the preparation of a duplicate refectory cast of the original stone cast of the patient's mouth.

Resilience and active inference
In this article, we aim to conceptualize and formalize the construct of resilience using the tools of active inference, a new physics-based modeling approach apt for the description and analysis of complex adaptive systems. We intend this as a first step

Symmetry classes for even-order tensors [PDF]
The purpose of this article is to give a complete and general answer to the recurrent problem in continuum mechanics of the determination of the number and the type of symmetry classes of an even-order tensor space.

Shear Wave Elastography Based on Noise Correlation and Time Reversal
Shear wave elastography (SWE) relies on the generation and tracking of coherent shear waves to image the tissue's shear elasticity. Recent technological developments have allowed SWE to be implemented in commercial ultrasound and magnetic resonance ...

Airy, Beltrami, Maxwell, Morera, Einstein and Lanczos potentials revisited [PDF]
The main purpose of this paper is to revisit the well known potentials, called stress functions, needed in order to study the parametrizations of the stress equations, respectively provided by G.B.

A SPECTROMETER TO STUDY ELASTIC AND DIFFRACTIVE PHYSICS AT LHC [PDF]
The possibility to study elastic and diffractive physics in pp collisions at LHC is discussed. For this purpose we have considered detectors close to the beam in conjunction with the magnetic elements of the accelerator to provide a high precision spectrometer for very forward final state protons.

From Statistical Polymer Physics to Nonlinear Elasticity [PDF]
A polymer-chain network is a collection of interconnected polymer-chains, made themselves of the repetition of a single pattern called a monomer. Our first main result establishes that, for a class of models for polymer-chain networks, the thermodynamic limit in the canonical ensemble yields a hyperelastic model in continuum mechanics.

Elastodynamic cloaking and field enhancement for soft spheres [PDF]
In this paper, we bring to the awareness of the scientific community and civil engineers, an important fact: the possible lack of wave protection of transformational elastic cloaks.
