Physics of Elasticity and Crystal Defects

2020
Abstract Mechanical properties of crystalline materials are almost always dominated by the defects within them. The ability to shape metals into pipes, girders and furniture stems from the generation, motion and interaction of these defects.

Physics of elasticity and crystal defects

Contemporary physics (Print), 2021
The book starts off with a detailed theoretical analysis of the properties of networks, and uses this to derive fundamental insights into things like the critical storage capacity of a network, how best to train your network and the importance of small ...

Elastic effects on surface physics

Surface Science Reports, 2004
Abstract The importance of stress and strain effects on surface physics are reviewed. For this purpose the following points are developed. (1) The elastic, thermodynamics and atomistic definitions of surface stress and surface strain are presented in a complementary way so that the surface stress and surface strain concepts based on a proper ...

Effects of physical exercise on the elasticity and elastic components of the rat aorta

European Journal of Applied Physiology and Occupational Physiology, 1993
To evaluate the effects of exercise on aortic wall elasticity and elastic components, young male rats underwent various exercise regimes for 16 weeks. In the exercised rats, the aortic incremental elastic modulus decreased significantly when under physiological strain.

The physical nature of elastic layers [PDF]

open access: possibleJournal of Elasticity, 1982
This paper gives an interpretation of the layers of elastic potentials, which are used to solve elastic boundary value problems of bodies and plates (extensional case). The layers appear as physical quantities on the boundary of the complement of the original body.

Physics-guided machine learning for 3-D quantitative quasi-static elasticity imaging

Physics in Medicine and Biology, 2020
We present a 3D extension of the Autoprogressive Method (AutoP) for quantitative quasi-static ultrasonic elastography (QUSE) based on sparse sampling of force-displacement measurements.

Modern classical physics: optics, fluids, plasmas, elasticity, relativity, and statistical physics

Contemporary physics (Print), 2018
shown that neutron packets can be constructedwith aGaussian profile (like theGlauber coherent states in optics),minimizing the uncertainty relation of position andmomentum, and exhibiting Poissonian counting statistics (i.e., random spacing between ...
