A new Bernoulli–Euler beam model based on a reformulated strain gradient elasticity theory
, 2020A new non-classical Bernoulli–Euler beam model is developed using a reformulated strain gradient elasticity theory that incorporates both couple stress and strain gradient effects.

Theory of epithelial elasticity
Physical Review E, 2015We propose an elastic theory of epithelial monolayers based on a two-dimensional discrete model of dropletlike cells characterized by differential surface tensions of their apical, basal, and lateral sides. We show that the effective tissue bending modulus depends on the apicobasal differential tension and changes sign at the transition from the flat ...

This chapter contains the basics of the theory of elasticity of three-dimensional anisotropic bodies which are essential for the understanding of the further contents of this book as well as of all further planned volumes of this book series. Even though this chapter is quite extensive we will limit ourselves to absolutely essential and indispensable ...

In this work, torsional vibration of nanorods with torsional elastic boundary conditions is presented via non-local elasticity theory. The present model developed based on non-local elasticity theory gives the opportunity to interpret size effect.

On the theory of the elasticity of crystals [PDF]
The fundamental aspects of the phenomenological theory of elasticity are critically examined and it is shown that the tensor representation of the elastic strains and stresses in the general case should be in the unsymmetrical form. On this basis, the stress-strain relationships are deduced and tabulated for the different crystal classes. The equations

Crowdions in elasticity theory [PDF]
A crowdion, which is a defect in a crystal structure, is described within the mechanics of continuous linear elastic medium. In the continual approximation, the crowdion is defined, analogously with dislocations, as a singular “carrier” of the plastic deformation of the medium and as a source of elastic deformation.
