Incremental upper bound modeling of concrete failures in timber‐concrete notched connections
Abstract This paper introduces a novel theoretical framework for developing incremental upper bound solutions, which is applied to predict the response of two local concrete failures in timber‐concrete composite (TCC) decks with notched connections. The new approach enables a prediction of the capacity at the onset of failure as well as the entire post‐

Shape Optimization of Elasto-Plastic Bodies [PDF]
A plane small strain problem is considered for a bounded body obeying a specific nonlinear generalized Hooke's law. A part of the boundary, where the body is fixed, is variable within certain set of admissible curves. This part has to be found, so that a cost functional attains its minimal value.

From section to structure: Assessing the impact of localized corrosion on reinforced concrete beams
Abstract The structural behavior of reinforced concrete (RC) elements affected by localized corrosion represents a major challenge for ensuring structural safety and for the proper design of strengthening interventions. The effects of localized corrosion on the flexural behavior of RC beams remain a topic of debate within the scientific community.

Surface effect, inertia and thermal softening are important factors affecting the elasto-plastic evolution of voids. In this study, we theoretically examine the dynamic evolution of a nano-void in an elasto-plastic medium, particularly focusing on ...

Uncertainty Propagation in Elasto-Plastic Material
Macroscopically heterogeneous materials, characterised mostly by comparable heterogeneity lengthscale and structural sizes, can no longer be modelled by deterministic approach instead. It is convenient to introduce stochastic approach with uncertain material parameters quantified as random fields and/or random variables.

Abstract In precast concrete structures, optimizing the design of corbels by considering the contributions of secondary reinforcement elements can significantly improve construction economy, especially when corbels are repeated multiple times. This paper proposes a strut‐and‐tie model for reinforced concrete corbels subjected to vertical and/or ...

THE EFFECT OF STRESS RELAXATION ON WHISKER GROWTH ESTIMATION
To describe the phenomenon of the stress generation and stress relaxation occurring simultaneously in the process of whisker growth,a UMAT subroutine in Abaqus is developed to solve the elasto-plastic creep constitutive model by means of the return ...

Micro‐Mechanism Informed Neural Networks for Process‐Property Prediction in Laser Powder Bed Fusion
Hard physics embedding, where neural networks learn residuals relative to analytical baselines, substantially outperforms soft loss‐function constraints for extrapolation in LPBF process–property prediction. Physics integration architecture determines generalization capability more than constraint quantity.

Abstract The majority of planetary impacts occur at oblique angles. Impact structures on Earth are commonly eroded or buried, rendering the identification of the direction and angle of impact—using methods such as asymmetries in ejecta distribution, surface topographic expression, central uplift structure, and geophysical anomalies—challenging. In this
