Absence of nematic instability in the kagome metal CsV$_3$Sb$_5$

open access: yes, 2023
Ever since the discovery of the charge density wave (CDW) transition in the kagome metal CsV$_3$Sb$_5$, the nature of its symmetry breaking is under intense debate.

Direct Measurement of Pyroelectric and Electrocaloric Effects in Thin Films [PDF]

open access: yes, 2017
An understanding of polarization-heat interactions in pyroelectric and electrocaloric thin-film materials requires that the electrothermal response is reliably characterized.

Giant and Reversible Barocaloric Effect in Trinuclear Spin-Crossover Complex Fe3(bntrz)6(tcnset)6 [PDF]

open access: yes, 2022
A giant barocaloric effect (BCE) in a molecular material Fe3(bntrz)6(tcnset)6 (FBT) is reported, where bntrz = 4-(benzyl)-1,2,4-triazole and tcnset = 1,1,3,3-tetracyano-2-thioethylepropenide.

Excellent elastocaloric and mechanical performance in Mn-doped Co–V-Ga as-cast polycrystalline alloy with simple preparation

open access: yesJournal of Materials Research and Technology
With the rapid development of solid-state refrigeration technology, elastocaloric materials face higher requirements, such as a higher elastocaloric effect (eCE), better mechanical properties, and simpler and faster large-scale preparation. In this work,

Inhomogeneity of Room‐Temperature Elastocaloric Effects in NiTi Alloys Fabricated by Laser Powder Bed Fusion

open access: yesRare Metals, Volume 45, Issue 1, January 2026.
ABSTRACT NiTi shape memory alloys are among the most promising solid‐state refrigeration materials. In recent years, additive manufacturing methods for producing difficult‐to‐machine NiTi alloys have gained increasing attention from researchers. This work successfully produces NiTi alloys with good superelasticity at room temperature via laser powder ...

Enhancing elastocaloric performance: Ti-doped Co–V-Ga bulk polycrystalline alloys with minimal stress hysteresis

open access: yesJournal of Materials Research and Technology
Currently, practical applications of shape memory alloy (SMA) solid elastocaloric refrigeration materials are limited by low elastocaloric effect (eCE), high applied stress, and large stress hysteresis (Δσhys).

Enhanced electrocaloric effect over a broad temperature range in lead‐free Na0.5Bi0.5TiO3‐based relaxor ferroelectrics via doping with Bi(Mg0.5Zr0.5)O3

open access: yesIET Nanodielectrics, Volume 7, Issue 2, Page 59-67, June 2024.
(0.74‐x) Na0.5Bi0.5TiO3‐0.06BaTiO3‐0.2SrTiO3‐xBi(Mg0.5Zr0.5)O3 (abbreviated as NBT‐xBMZ) (x = 0, 0.02, 0.04, 0.06 and 0.08) lead‐free relaxor ferroelectrics were designed and prepared using a conventional solid‐state reaction method. Via doping with BMZ, an enhanced relaxor feature and a wider temperature range where multi‐phases coexist were achieved.

Probing Momentum-Dependent Scattering in Uniaxially Stressed Sr2RuO4 through the Hall Effect [PDF]

open access: yes, 2023
The largest Fermi surface sheet of the correlated metal Sr2RuO4 can be driven through a Lifshitz transition between an electronlike and an open geometry by uniaxial stress applied along the [100] lattice direction. Here, we investigate the effect of this
