Evaluation of liver stiffness measurement–based scores in liver transplantation recipients

open access: yesLiver Transplantation, EarlyView., 2022
Abstract Combining bioclinical parameters with liver stiffness measurement (LSM) has improved the diagnostic performance of vibration‐controlled transient elastography (VCTE) for detection of advanced fibrosis in patients with chronic liver disease. However, this approach has not yet been tested in liver transplantation (LT) recipients.

Changes in Ultrasound Parameters of the Median Nerve at Different Positions of the Radiocarpal Joint in Patients with Carpal Tunnel Syndrome

open access: yesSensors
Ultrasound imaging (US) is being increasingly used to aid in the diagnosis of entrapment neuropathies. This study aims to evaluate the shear modulus and cross-sectional area (CSA) of the median nerve in patients with carpal tunnel syndrome (CTS). A total

Diagnostic utility of strain and shear wave ultrasound elastography in differentiation of benign and malignant solid breast lesions

open access: yesThe Egyptian Journal of Radiology and Nuclear Medicine, 2020
Background The purpose of our study was to assess diagnostic performance and comparison of strain and shear wave ultrasound elastography for differentiation of benign and malignant breast lesions compared to histopathological diagnosis as a reference ...

Diagnostic value of two dimensional shear wave elastography combined with texture analysis in early liver fibrosis. [PDF]

open access: yes, 2019
BACKGROUND: Staging diagnosis of liver fibrosis is a prerequisite for timely diagnosis and therapy in patients with chronic hepatitis B. In recent years, ultrasound elastography has become an important method for clinical noninvasive assessment of liver ...

Single-breath-hold photoacoustic computed tomography of the breast [PDF]

open access: yes, 2018
We have developed a single-breath-hold photoacoustic computed tomography (SBH-PACT) system to reveal detailed angiographic structures in human breasts. SBH-PACT features a deep penetration depth (4 cm in vivo) with high spatial and temporal resolutions ...

Liver Stiffness Directs Intrahepatic Cholesterol Accumulation Through YAP/TAZ in Metabolic Dysfunction‐Associated Steatotic Liver Disease

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Liver stiffness promotes intrahepatic cholesterol accumulation by repressing LXRα through YAP/TAZ activation. Stiff matrices impair cholesterol efflux in hepatocytes, while YAP/TAZ deletion restores LXRα activity and prevents cholesterol‐induced fibrosis.

AUE-Net: Automated Generation of Ultrasound Elastography Using Generative Adversarial Network

open access: yesDiagnostics, 2022
Problem: Ultrasonography is recommended as the first choice for evaluation of thyroid nodules, however, conventional ultrasound features may not be able to adequately predict malignancy. Ultrasound elastography, adjunct to conventional B-mode ultrasound,

Global Ultrasound Elastography Using Convolutional Neural Network

open access: yes, 2018
Displacement estimation is very important in ultrasound elastography and failing to estimate displacement correctly results in failure in generating strain images.

Magnetic Resonance Elastography [PDF]

open access: yesCurrent Medical Imaging Reviews, 2012
Often compared to the practice of manual palpation, magnetic resonance elastography is an emerging technology for quantitatively assessing the mechanical properties of tissue as a basis for characterizing disease. The potential of MRE as a diagnostic tool is rooted in the fact that normal and diseased tissues often differ significantly in terms of ...

Engineering Approaches to Modify Immunomodulatory Functions of Mesenchymal Stromal Cells (MSCs): Tissue Regeneration and Clinical Application

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Mesenchymal stromal cells (MSCs) show promise for treating immune‐related disorders through immunomodulation and tissue regeneration. This review gives a brief overview of current clinical approval of MSC therapies. It also discussed how bioengineering, including genetic modification, biomaterial delivery, extracellular vesicles, and iPSC‐derived MSCs,
