A multiscale method for optimising surface topography in elastohydrodynamic lubrication (EHL) using metamodels [PDF]
The frictional performance of a bearing is of significant interest in any mechanical system where there are lubricated surfaces under load and in relative motion. Surface topography plays a major role in determining the coefficient of friction for the bearing because the size of the fluid film and topography are of a comparable order.

Abstract Antifriction synergies between an ionic liquid (IL) and nanopowders as additives of an ester base oil were analysed at rolling conditions. For this aim, two nanodispersions based on hybrid combinations of hexagonal boron nitride nanoparticles (h‐BN) or graphene nanoplatelets (GnP) with tri(butyl) ethylphosphonium diethylphosphate ionic liquid ...

Behaviors of a micro oil droplet in an EHL contact
Oil–air lubrication supplies lubricants in the form of droplets to elastohydrodynamic lubrication (EHL) contacts, such as those in high-speed spindle bearings.

Remarks on Modeling the Oil Film Generation of Rod Seals
The oil film generation of a U-cup rod seal and the oil film thickness on the rod after outstroke were analyzed analytically, numerically, and experimentally. The analyzed sealing system consists of an unmodified, commercially available U-cup, a polished

EHL Oil Film Behavior of Thermo-Reversible Gel-Lubricants
This study investigates about the characteristic of the thermo-reversible gel-lubricant (TR Gel-Lube) under elastohydrodynamic lubrication (EHL) conditions. TR Gel-Lube is the lubricant, which consists of base fluid and a gel agent.

Elastohydrodynamic Lubrication (EHL) of Piston Rings in the Internal Combustion Engine
AbstractThe paper analyzes the numerical model of elastohydrodynamic lubrication (EHL) of piston rings in the cylinder liner of the internal combustion engine (ICE). Authors take into account reactions of the lubricating layer, the pressure force of the piston rings on the cylinder wall, forces of the gas pressure in the cylinder, the friction force ...
