Wellbore Stability Analysis Using Elastoplastic and Thermo-Elastoplastic Approaches

ADIPEC, 2022
Abstract Wellbore stability modeling has been known in the oil and gas industry and academia for a long time. The instability-related issues significantly impact field developments, especially in complex deep reservoirs. This instability can substantially jeopardize the drilling objectives, leading to poor wellbore conditions.

Elastoplastic Analysis of Circular Plates on Elastoplastic Foundation

Journal of Structural Engineering, 1997
An elastoplastic analysis of rotationally symmetric reinforced concrete plates resting on elastoplastic subgrade under column load is presented. The plates are made of an elastic, perfectly plastic material that obeys the Johansen's yield condition and the associated flow rule.

On the Numerical Implementation of Elastoplastic Models

Journal of Applied Mechanics, 1984
A closed-form solution is given for the way stresses evolve during an elastoplastic time step under conditions of purely kinematic hardening or softening. When isotropic effects are included, the analysis becomes more difficult, so a perturbation solution is developed.

An Inverse Problem for an Elastoplastic Medium

SIAM Journal on Applied Mathematics, 1995
Summary: Within the range of the so-called deformation theory of plasticity, the determination of unknown coefficients in a nonlinear system of equilibrium equations from overspecified data measured at the boundary is considered. This inverse problem is reformulated as a minimization problem for a certain functional.

An interior‐point algorithm for elastoplasticity

International Journal for Numerical Methods in Engineering, 2006
AbstractThe problem of small‐deformation, rate‐independent elastoplasticity is treated using convex programming theory and algorithms. A finite‐step variational formulation is first derived after which the relevant potential is discretized in space and subsequently viewed as the Lagrangian associated with a convex mathematical program.
