Perinatal and long‐term implications of diagnosing gestational diabetes mellitus using only fasting and one‐hour post‐load glucose concentrations: Secondary analysis of the GEMS trial and its five‐year follow‐up

Women with gestational diabetes diagnosed by an elevated fasting ± one‐hour glucose concentration, compared with one‐hour alone, may have higher later diabetes risk, and their children greater perinatal complications and five‐year growth, supporting gestational diabetes subtyping for risk stratification.
