Regenerative amplification in a microtoroid by electrical actuation
2011 International Quantum Electronics Conference (IQEC) and Conference on Lasers and Electro-Optics (CLEO) Pacific Rim incorporating the Australasian Conference on Optics, Lasers and Spectroscopy and the Australian Conference on Optical Fibre Technology, 2011We investigate mechanical regenerative amplification in a microtoroid by electrical actuation, and compare the linewidths achievable to that found with optical driving. We find an order of magnitude lower linewidth by this method.

Smart Materials and Structures, 2009
This paper studies the nonlinear vibration of a clamped–clamped microresonator under combined electric and piezoelectric actuations. The electric actuation is induced by applying an AC–DC voltage between the microbeam and the electrode plate that lies on opposite sides of the microbeam, and the piezoelectric actuation is induced by applying the DC ...

Identification of in-line electric actuator
Proceedings of the 14th International Carpathian Control Conference (ICCC), 2013In the article, identification process of linear actuator manufactured by Concens is presented. The objective of research was to elaborate mathematical model (operational transfer function) and to determine characteristic parameters. For this purpose, measurement station was constructed, consisting of: actuator with sensor of DC engine shaft location ...

Flow Control with Electric Actuators
HVAC&R Research, 1997High levels of measurement noise, nonlinear behavior, and conflicting performance requirements pose challenging problems for flow controllers in heating, ventilating, and air-conditioning (HVAC) systems. In this paper, a strategy is developed which is based on an analysis of the maximum system gain and an estimate of the variance of the noise.

Trends in developing electrical actuators
European Transactions on Electrical Power, 1992AbstractElectrical actuators are equipments for the conversion of electrical energy and signals into mechanical forces and movements. Sensors ‐ used in connection with these actuators ‐ are devices for the conversion of electromagnetic or mechanical units into electromagnetic signals.

Modern Evolutions of Electrical Actuators
IFAC Proceedings Volumes, 1990Abstract Power electronics seemed for a long period an obsolete area with very few Innovations. This period of stagnation is replaced now due to rapid developments in semiconductor technology. This development boosts development in all areas of power electronics, too: the power semiconductors, the topologies of the converters and inverters, the ...

Fault diagnosis of electrical actuators
2011Actuators usually transform low-powered manipulated variables (e.g. analog voltages 0––10V, applied DC currents 0––20mA or 4––20 mA, pneumatic pressures 0:2 – –1 bar, or hydraulic pressures 0 – –150 bar) into process input variables of a much higher power level.
