REWW‐ARM—Remote Wire‐Driven Mobile Robot: Design, Control, and Experimental Validation

open access: yesAdvanced Intelligent Systems, EarlyView.
The Remote Wire‐Driven robot “REWW‐ARM” demonstrates a new concept of remote actuation that separates electronics from harsh environments while retaining closed‐loop control. Combining tendon‐sheath mechanisms with decoupled joints, it achieves efficient power transmission and autonomous locomotion, manipulation, and underwater operation, suggesting ...

Upsampling DINOv2 Features for Unsupervised Vision Tasks and Weakly Supervised Materials Segmentation

open access: yesAdvanced Intelligent Systems, EarlyView.
Feature from recent image foundation models (DINOv2) are useful for vision tasks (segmentation, object localization) with little or no human input. Once upsampled, they can be used for weakly supervised micrograph segmentation, achieving strong results when compared to classical features (blurs, edge detection) across a range of material systems.

Bicycle usage among inactive adults provided with electrically assisted bicycles

open access: yesActa Kinesiologiae Universitatis Tartuensis, 2019
In the present study we aimed primarily to examine cycling time and distance when inactive subjects were provided with electrically assisted bicycles. Secondly to evaluate changes in maximal oxygen uptake. Inactive employees in a selection of public and private corporations in three Norwegian cities were invited to participate. Inclusion criteria were:

Activism as education in and through the youth climate justice movement

open access: yesBritish Educational Research Journal, EarlyView.
Abstract Young people worldwide are increasingly participating in a global movement for climate justice, yet to date, little research has examined how youth climate justice activists conceive of and experience activism as education. The present study used in‐depth, semi‐structured interviews with 16 US climate justice activists (aged 15–17) to address ...
