AbstractMultiport converters (MPCs) that integrate multiple converters into a single unit have been proposed to reduce the converter count in electric vehicle power systems where multiple batteries are employed. However, conventional MPCs comprising a dual active bridge (DAB) converter and an interleaved PWM converter require feedback control loops and

Processes of Converting Terahertz Radiation into Electric Current
Bulletin of the Russian Academy of Sciences: Physics, 2019Studying the conversion of terahertz radiation into electric current is of great interest for finding new ways of using the energies of solar and thermal radiation, designing new IR detectors, and other purposes. The processes that occur during the rectification of terahertz signals can be considered within the theory of tunneling stimulated by photons.

Investigations on bearing currents in converter-fed electrical motors
2012 XXth International Conference on Electrical Machines, 2012As shown in [6], the issue of current flowing through a motor bearing is a system-related topic. Different aspects have to be taken into account to identify countermeasures to avoid or dampen the current flow. Up until now, it is not possible to define clear limits where the changes in the bearing raceways lead to the so called corrugation and with ...

Unified converter for electric locomotives of direct and alternating current
Russian Electrical Engineering, 2009Converter power circuits and cooling systems have been reviewed. Recommendations are made on how to choose converter circuits, power IGBT modules, and algorithms for motor voltage formation. Converters for a two-axis bogie are compared at a motor power of 1200 kW. A method for creating a unified converter for all types of electric locomotives is shown.

Two innovative unipolar current converters for low power electrical motor drives
International Symposium on Power Electronics, Electrical Drives, Automation and Motion, 2006. SPEEDAM 2006., 2006Unipolar current inverters generally use extra switches, or special motor requirements, to control the voltage across the freewheeling capacitor. This paper proposes two different three switches - three phases inverter topologies able to control the voltage of the free-wheeling capacitor only exploiting the phase switches. A key feature of the proposed

A method of diagnosing reversible converters of alternating current electric locomotives
Russian Electrical Engineering, 2016Failures of reversible converters (RCs) in ac electric locomotives can cause failures of ac locomotive power equipment. Depending on their severity, the electric locomotive can be placed in one of several different modes, from partial loss of function to complete halting.
