Contactless measurement of electric current using magnetic sensors [PDF]

open access: yestm - Technisches Messen, 2019
Abstract We review recent advances in magnetic sensors for DC/AC current transducers, especially novel AMR sensors and integrated fluxgates, and we make critical comparison of their properties. Most contactless electric current transducers use magnetic cores to concentrate the flux generated by the measured current and to shield the ...

Optimal design of optical fibers for electric current measurement [PDF]

open access: yesApplied Optics, 1989
The current sensitivity and bandwidth of the optical fiber current monitor are analyzed. The optimal sensitivity is proportional to the ratio of fiber attenuation to the Verdet constant at a specific fiber length. A selection of compound glasses has been investigated with a view to improving bandwidth and sensitivity over standard silica-fiber systems.

Smart protection system for identification and localisation of faults in multi-terminal DC microgrid

open access: yesIET Smart Grid, 2020
DC microgrid provides the horizontal infrastructures to integrate distributed generation (DG) and loads. Unlike traditional AC systems, DC systems cannot survive or sustain high magnitude fault currents. It makes locating faults very difficult.
