Eddy currents: Contactless measurement of electrical resistivity

American Journal of Physics, 2000
A simple and inexpensive student experiment is described, consisting of determination of the effective magnetic susceptibility of a cylindrical conductor in an axial ac magnetic field and contactless measurement of electrical resistivity. The experiment shows an important application of eddy currents.

Surface Current Measurements with an Electric Probe

IEEE Transactions on Microwave Theory and Techniques, 1962
The use of an electric probe for measurement of induced surface currents on obstacles in a parallel plate region is described. An analysis of the sources of error, and in particular the interaction of the probe with the obstacle, is examined theoretically and experimentally. It is concluded that the technique is capable of yielding measurements of good

A device for measuring electric current

2018
A device (1) for measuring electric current comprised of a plurality of magnetic field sensor elements (2, 2.1, 2.2,..., 2.n) positioned around a current carrying conductor, where each sensor element is sensitive to one vector component of the magnetic field generated by the electric current, where the sensor elements (2, 2.1, 2.2,..., 2.n) are ...

Electrical Measurements on Circuits Requiring Current and Potential Transformers

Transactions of the American Institute of Electrical Engineers, 1909
Modern requirements make it necessary to measure alternating current, volts, and watts on circuits where the magnitude of these quantities and the safety of the operator require that some means be provided so that the instruments used are not directly connected to the circuit.

Measuring the ion current in electrical discharges using radio-frequency current and voltage measurements

Applied Physics Letters, 1998
This letter describes a technique for measuring the ion current at a semiconductor wafer that is undergoing plasma processing. The technique relies on external measurements of the radio-frequency (rf) current and voltage at the wafer electrode. The rf signals are generated by the rf bias power which is normally applied to wafers during processing ...

Time Resolved Electrical Measurements in High Current Discharges

Review of Scientific Instruments, 1966
A method for measurement of the resistive component of the instantaneous voltage across a sample installed in a high voltage, high current circuit is described. Simultaneous measurement of the current permitted time resolved determination of electrical energy dissipation, power, and resistance of the sample.
